I believe he is innocent. The police are always out to get him just because he is a "Clifton".

I agree with Heather. They always seem to be that way towards that last name.

Clifton was always a trouble maker, and there must have probable cause or he wouldnt have been charged with the crime.

The Cliftons are a good family and hard workers there is a political skirmish in Mtn County involving the judge and the prosecutor Cary just accidently got caught up in it.

yeah it was so accidental. Explain to me if Cary is such a great person why is it every time i've ever seen cary clifton he can barely keep his eyes open and his hands to himself. i've known cary since school. that's what he's known for. Maybe the rest of his family are good people(and they are) but I think Cary fell opff the wagon BACKWARDS!

Cary is a worthless piece of you know what and always has been, and your right heather, they do target that last name in shoals, BECAUSE THEY ARE TROUBLE MAKERS! So cry me a river.

This Is Cary"s older brother and I am in the Military, I fight for your sorry ass, why? Just so you can insult my brother. I want you to say all that to my face when I get back. I agree with the previous statement, you would never say that to his face.

Wow it's crazy to see how popular Cary can be! Cary and his family are great people. You guys really need not to be so critical. "Who are you to judge the life I live? I know i'm not perfect - and I don't live to be. But before you start pointing fingers.. make sure your own hands are clean."

I can garuntee that every single one of you have done something stupid.. it's hard not to get in trouble when you live in a place like martin county.. its stupid

Well, all of this "round-town" talk is fine, but people should wait and see what the facts of this paticular case are before a rush to judgement.

What I do remember of the Cliftons when I was in high school (graduate class of 1981)was that they were a hard working, hard playing, close-net group of kenfolk. Even though some of them were a little roudy at times, they always said what they meant, and kept to their word, right, or wrong. I kinda liked that about them, so I was able to overlook their faults, as I too wish others might overlook mine on occasion.

One of my best friends was Jessie Clifton, and I often wonder what happened to him. Does anyone know?

Cary Clifton pled guilty a long time ago, and the case is over. He raised his right hand in the courtroom, and he swore that he committed the crime. He and his lawyer did a plea bargain with a special prosecutor from another county, and he he agreed that he deserved prison time for his actions. By pleading guilty and not going to a jury trial, he got a much shorter sentence than he probably would have gotten if a jury had found him guilty. Cary will be in prison for quite awhile. Doesn't mean he is bad. Doesn't mean his family is bad. Just means he committed a crime. Now he has to do the time. Has nothing absolutely nothing to do with his last name, the prosecutor, the judge, conspiracies, or anything else other than what Cary did one night. He got drunk and got stupid. And the law says you can't break into buildings, steal stuff, and set things on fire. And if you have a criminal record, you are going to get a longer jail sentence. So, can't we just hope the best for Cary and his family and move on?
