I read perks of being a wallflower before entering high school in port Washington, and believe it or not but most of my English class that semester read it as well.
During that first semester of high school we as a class read girl with a pearl earring which is also "graphic"
I think its very sad one immatur child had to ruin it for everyone.
Especially since generally you talk about the books you read in high school your first semester in college.
Having all those literature references under my belt also helped me communicate better in other classes and in life.
Taking perks off the list is like not letting students read Romeo and Juliet for the double suicide or wuthering heights for the sexual content&incest.
