The demographics are in the toilet. Even the "successful people" know it. That's why most of them have migrated.

I think the poster was simply making a point, not bragging about anything.

There are a lot of people in Florissant who are financially independent and have been for quite some time. The point, as I see it, is people should live where they choose, assuming they can choose.

I understand his ideology. He chooses to live in the area even though he could move elsewhere. What's the problem with that? I could, as many posters here could move, but I choose not to. I like my neighbors, I like the city, I feel perfectly safe here.

As several people stated, crime is everywhere. There is absolutely no community that is immune, Florissant is NOT rampant with criminal activity as can be validated by simply checking the FPD site where monthly crime stats are listed.

I have friends an family who live in STCC who moved for various reasons. A main one being they had already bought property years before the area building boom. But, they have their share of crime also. My niece lives in very upscale subdivison and a couple of months ago authorities busted a meth lab a couple of houses away.

Live in STCC, live in Florissant, live wherever you choose, but get involved in your community, know what is going on and when there is problems work to solve them. Moaning and groaning, blaming and finger pointing is a waste of time and energy.

FYI.."blind ostrich" is a bit redundant don't ya think?

I think that there are some, but not what there used to be. I see a general trend of wealthier people congregating in certain distinct geographical areas and not distributing throughout the community, which is a bad trend IMHO.

One good thing about FLOMO is that the homes are relatively inexpensive to buy and own, and commuting costs to most employment centers is relatively inexpensive. One bad thing is that you pretty much need to use private schools if you care about your kid's education, safety, and moral development, which is really sad given what FLOMO used to have schoolwise.

What I see in StChasCO is people hugely underwater in their homes with crushing commuting costs, even with $3.40 gas. My family fuel bill for two people commuting from Dardenne Prairie to St Louis city and Westport respectively, and a couple of teenage drivers will be in the $9,000 to $11,000 range this year, compared to about $6,000 to $7000 when we lived in FLOMO. Plus an extra 10-20 hours/week in commuting time burned on the roads. I don't know what the closure of Hwy 70 WB and then the closure of Hwy 64 for a new bridge is going to do to things.

In response to the first poster's question, I think the reason so many are disrespectful to those who moved out of north county is because a lot of them, not all, take pleasure in making fun of north county for some reason or another. Whether its racial stuff or crime, or just plain old thinking North County is a horrible place there is a lot of disrespect coming to people who choose to stay in north county as well. Its a two way street. Most threads on topix turn into a debate; st.charles vs florissant/north county.
I stil live in Florissant, I have family and friends that live out here, and out in st.charles county. The only problem I have with st.charles is the fact that a lot of people (mainly people on topix) go out of their way to insult and degrade Florissant and its residents. It makes both st.charles and florissant look bad when it becomes a name calling contest between the two.

I am like tens of thousand of other people who were raised in North County and now live in St. Charles County. I never really paid attention to this before, but until I recently moved out here I have noticed a lot of resentment from people who choose to stay in North County towards those that now reside on this side of the river.
Why is there all this anger? Am I missing something?
I use to live in north country in apartment by airport. Did many shopping in the area and did not like mean africans. Many time they show gang sign and steal things from apartment that did not belong to them. Being immigrant from another country I did not like kind of people these were. So I move to area I am now and see many more people of same race. Better school for my childs to go to also. I hear some neighbor talk about this "urban sprawl" but I do not know about this since not from here original. In my country we leave the city on weekend to go to country house. Im guess this not the same kind thing?

Most people of middle class economic status do not have country houses/homes. Although I do know some who have property at Innsbrook, Lake of the Ozarks, etc. Those are mostly small places to use on the weekend for boating, cookouts for friends, etc.

There's probably a lot of citizens in metro areas such as NYC that do have such permanent residences, which makes sense to me. If you live in the 'burbs it's usually not an issue.

As far as not caring to associate with a certain race, group of people, you are certainly within your rights to make that choice the same as anyone else.

I really don't understand all the arguing about who lives where. For most people it's a personal choice and why it should be anyone else's business is confusing.

I think the STCC vs any other area or vice versa is ridiculous and most of the animosity is by people who simply like to create trouble about anything, anywhere.

Live wherever you choose, just be a good neighbor, a good person that's all that is necessary.

And that has absolutley nothing to do with the question the person asked does it? They asked why north county residents have something against St.Charles residents. I clearly explained that I dont have a problem with the st.charles residents, its their degrading comments. What do you not understand about that? It is truly none of your damn business who stayed if you left. Its none of my business why you left and I dont really care what the reason was. Judging by your explanation though, I am glad you left. By the way, I saw O'Fallon is on the news again for more crimes. Better pack up and move again. Chicken sh*t.

I still don't have a clue as to why some people who live in NORCO have so much anger towards those who now reside in St. Charles County. However, judging by the posts there is no denying my belief that there are indeed those who hate on people who live in St. Charles County.

I think it's pretty much equal. I don't care where anyone lives because it isn't anyone else's business except for the person who chooses to live there.

My problem is with posters who cannot state their opinion without behaving like a middle schooler. Abusive, obscene language is used by people who have no better argument concerning any subject so they resort to name calling and other childish behavior.
