Anyone familiar with the location of the Old Norton Cemetery? Also known as the Garrett Cemetery. It is out on Foster Road North of Union church, about 200 feet off the road. My grandfather was from union church and some of my ancestors are buried here. The only guidance I have is a map made in the 1960's, not long after the area had been logged. That map tells you to stop at the big tree (as if that helps now) and that the cemetery is beneath a cluster of tall tall pine. Anyone familiar at all?

Also, how is Foster Road? Parents say it used to be unpaved, and imagine it is much the same today.

I was out there two weeks ago. Foster road is still not paved but is not bad. My uncle took me out there as I am not. a local. We just drove past it. Did not get out of the truck. A bridge is out so you have to go the way around. Who are your an ancestors? My ggreat grandmother Beard is buried there.

Anyone have any more information about that bridge that's out? Is it still out? We're descendants of John A. Garret through Cassius Eastman Garrett and we're planning to go out there in a few weeks to try and find the cemetery. Liz, I think we're probably cousins. Cassius Eastman Garrett (my great-grandfather) had an older sister who married a Calvin Beard, I think.

Made it out to the Norton Cemetery today, despite the cold. Didn't have too much trouble, but probably would not have found it without Google and GPS. Not much too it. The wire fence that was around it is mostly on the ground now. It's located in a cluster of pine, magnolia, and smaller oaks. A logging company (or someone) marked off the perimeter of the cemetery by tying pink tape to the trees.
