Allowing kevin pyatt to become chief will be a terrible move by the city board. Kevin pyatt has already shown how he can waste tax payers money by his poor management skills. I for one would not feel safe in wentzville as pyatt being the leader.I believe it would soon be a case of jennings where the county police would have to come in and take over.
Agree NO Pyatt

It is amazing how message boards and the internet is used for incredible things such as research, friendships, and data, but can be used for incorrect and judgemental statements (bullying statements) from those that do not have the character to share their name and speak to the person directly. They use message boards as a smear campaign during election seasons.
If you knew Kevin Pyatt as a person or understood what has taken place under his leadership/position at the Wentzville station, you would clearly understand the man behind the badge.
Under his leadership/position, when the city had to make budget cuts in departments a couple of years ago Kevin Pyatt strategically increased the departments services and did more for less money. When questionnaires where sent out to Wentzville to see how the residents and business owners felt regarding the police department and safety in their community, it came back that the department had an 85% approval rating. If you note, Jennings never received that approval rating...just saying.
There are many more items we can discuss when it comes to the abilities, skills and wisdom of Kevin Pyatt and his role in the department throughout the years. However, lets discuss the core of the man. If you knew Kevin Pyatt at all you would know that he is a man of character, integrity, and honor. In all he does, both in the office and off the clock, reflects his heart and concern for his community and his responsibilites. He is a man of his word, honest, hardworking, and very capable of leading the department into the next phase.
Remember two things before you are so quick to speak against this man or anyone else:
1) What is your motive to attack a man's character? Is it that you want that job? That your friend or spouse wants the job? Are you afraid if you ran a real campaign that your character and wisdom would not win out against Kevin Pyatt?
2) The truth will always win out. At the end of elections and at the end of debates, the one left standing is the one that has not had to lie, degrade, and pour dirt on their opponent. The truth will come out and the one standing on principles and honor will receive the reward.
Be very careful, very careful...before you go into a character and integrity debate with Kevin Pyatt. He will win every time.

big mistake & Agree NO Pyatt...might I suggest that you air your grievances in a public forum where your identity is known rather than hiding behind aliases on a message board. At the least it will certainly provide more creditability to your statements and context to your position. I only say this as what I have read and heard on this topic is contrary to your posted opinion.

I've known Kevin Pyatt for two years now, and the respect I have for the man is insurmountable. We rarely talk about his work as I am not a police officer and feel that it's somewhat inappropriate to dabble in his everyday affairs involving work. If he's as good of a chief as he is a friend, the residents of Wentzville would be extremely fortunate & BLESSED to have him in the "Lead" .....just my opinion

I just want to know what proof you're basing your posts on regarding him wasting money or poor leadership? Do you work for the department? Are you a city employee? Please step up enlighten everyone as to what actual facts you have to base these statements. I would like to point out while other departments are laying people off or taking paycuts, Wentzville PD required none of that. So based on your lack of knowledge, I'm guessing your an ignorant sheep being lead by some of the pissy little whiners that have infected that department, or you are one of those pissy little whiners, or a big fat ass snake that would stab his own mother in the back to get ahead & happens to be gunning for Chief. Either way provide proof or shut up

I guess a few of you need a since of fullfilment that your opions matter. I have known Pyatt for a long time also. I have seen and heard him say things that I will not air on here but simply agree with the first two post, Pyatt is no good for Wentzville. Do you own research. Its not hard to find. ps we can all put on an act at church!!!!!

So because the City Alderman have not laid anyone off or voted in a wage deduction Pyatt should be Chief! Thats the dumbest comment I have ever heard. Sounds like a middle school discusion board.O wait thats how he talks. Really !! make your own choices! Start looking deaper past the fronts.Every candiate will come with skelitons but which one do you want keeping your family safe? Pyatt is to my understanding acting as asst chief now. So why would we want to contunie the problems? How many law suits are pending with this man in charge? just do your own research!!!!!!!!!

I believe it is wild how people use this board to speak badly about a person. Are you afraid to do a real editorial and put your name behind it? Do you really believe the people making the decision for this position will come to Topix and read this smack to make their decision. Maybe if you would spend time in the gym instead of TRYING to make a candidate look bad, you might have had a chance to become chief.

I agree pyatt should try going to the gym. When you think about a leader he should be in shape if he expects to earn respect. I don't believe he has the courage to even break up a middle school fight.

I find it disheartening that people can come on these boards and say whatever they want without proof of who they realky are. Its obvious there are disgruntled employees on here complaining....have some backbone, go in and talk to Kevin face to face instead of hiding behind the anonymous comments.

As a coworker, I have always found kevin to be hardworking, honest and level headed. He is always making decisions with consideration for employees in mind.

Regardless to whether you feel he is the most qualified person for the job, he at least deserves the same respect we all exoect qhen applying for a promotion.

Everyone always rhinks the grass is greener on the other side.... I personally think kwvin is an exceptional person and leader and given the opportunity (if he even wanta it!) Will be a perfect person to lead the police department.

Why doesn't the police department ask their officers what they want? I don't think this is about someone else running against Kevin Pyatt I think this is about people wanting anyone but Kevin Pyatt as the chief. As far as getting into a charecter or integrity debate with the Captain ...... I guess he would have to possess those qualities first.

I think we have all overlooked the obvious candidate Jason Petey Davis. He has been with the department for well over a year, in that time he has made a record 3 arrests, saved a kitten from drowning in a bathtub, and personally tutors teenage boys in his van. He is also a world champion tap dancer, a amatuer lumber jack &until last week was a volunteer @ the local women's shelter. We are confident he will be able to go back after all the socks are found. Jason is an outstanding human being with a smile that can light up a room & a laugh that has literally brought children back to life. So vote. DAVIS for chief on July 16th.

Let me state I am NOT a resident and NOT a public official of Wentzville. I AM an official from a neighboring community and we went through a search for a new Chief of Police. There are some things the city officials and administration need to consider BEFORE hiring a new Chief.

Currently there are MANY experienced candidates and current Chiefs with OUTSTANDING credentials. We were faced with the exact same situation. We had an experienced officer in our department, but the Mayor felt it important to consider ALL possibilities. We opened the position up and received some 47 applications from across the country.

The Mayor and BOA President did a preliminary screening and weeded out 50% initially. Those in the last group had their apps reviewed and scored by the BOA. The "final" 5 were interviewed individually by the BOA, Mayor and city attorney. We DID select the person currently with the department, but not until a thorough and professional search was done.

Did this take a while? Yes, about 4 months total. However we all felt that it was good to compare potential candidates and make certain we had a good fit for the citizens and the city.

How would that have been "fair?" Chances are that few, if any, of our current officers may have known about the other candidates. That would taint their opinions, pro and/or con, towards or against the current officer. While the input of subordinates is SOMETIMES considered, in this case we felt that all should be considered on a level footing to begin with.

I dont agree with going outside the force, this is costing the taxpayers money that does not need to be spent. I think having Pyatt would be no change because I think really he is running it now and has been for sometime. There are many other good officers that should be looked at , Schoolkraft,Dothage, and Ellis are all very qualified. I think the force does need CHANGE!
