This school has been on a downward spin for quite sometime. It just seems to be getting worse everytime I hear someone talking about the school. Now, I hear the kids are going to purposely fail the MAP Tests as a protest to the school's administration. I know that some kids are going to school with protest shirts and being sent home. That is how bad things are. Many feel the administration continues to be deceptive. They first said that teachers were going to be laid off andnow there is an announcement they aren't?

Last year, the administration promised the kids that did above average on the MAP Tests that each kid would get their own marked parking place. That was a lie.

There is a mass exodus of teachers leaving.

They spent about $100,000 on a new soccer field and now it turns out the project was mismanaged. The field is too dangerous to be played on. How can we trust the people running this school? Especially with our tax dollars!

The School Board is the group making the decisions. Holt and Timberland both will be losing teachers next year- a result of the change to block schedules. The Administration and School Board are being deceptive and failing to meet their own objectives. On the wall of the Meeting room the School Board has posted objectives. One is to engage the community in strategic planning. Their idea of engaging the public is to allow 15 minutes of public comment on the Bock schedule issue- then hold a special meeeting where they don't allow comments to be made so they can vote. Other objectives also are not being met.

Dr. Adams is making the decision to change the schedule to enable the education to improve. Dr. Adams fails to realize that the MAP scores and ACT scores of the district are far above the state average. HOlt had highest ACT score in the county.
State records show that surveyed Block-scheduled schools have a much higher average than non-block schools. Dr. Adams made comments that he would meeting with the community to discuss changes- These meetings seem to never have happened to a suitable scale.

The teachers union says that there is no major issue with the payscale- the reason for leaving are the working environment set up by the School Board and lack of concern on the Administrations part.

We may be stuck with this Superintendent and School Board, but there is an election in April. We need to pull together and remove the leader of this group- Mr. Maestas and send a clear message that the School Board answers to the public. And the public wants a voice in the decisions, and wants the School Board to hold to it's own objectives.

Now the School Board wants approval on a bond issue- Prop 25. Send a message on that- VOTE NO!
Vote against Maestas and send the message that we- as the public- wants Dr. Adams resignation at the end of this school year.

The thing that makes me mad is that the principals submitted the first plan and then after there was such an outrage, they changed things where teachers would be retained.

Did you know the principal had made te promise to the students that he would personally mark parking spaces for those that did above average? There is a promise a lot of kids remember. I have heard the kids are going to throw the MAP Test in the form of protest.

You can bet I'm voting no and I have my older kids and friends voting no. There is so much lying! They might be able to silence concerned parents at their meeting, but our votes against Proposition 25 will speak volumes.

Spread the word with all you know- get out and vote no- and get rid of the current board members up for re-election. Maestas and MacDonald are both on hte ballot- one registered candidate- anyone want to be a write -in candidate?

The school board and most staff we have delt with are a joke! Bad school , we have hired lawyers to deal with these people ! Our son has an IEP and needed help, we send him to school and something happened which will harm him for the rest of his life. I sent my son to school to be safe and for the school to teach him . I have voiced and voiced my concerns , it is taking lawyers and state reps to get these people to listen. We all need to step up and get a whole new admin in office at the higher levels!

Dr. Adams and the like aren't the only things ruining the environment and our ability to learn. In Ms. Detwiler's class, when the assignment is to write a story, most of the time it's best NOT to write a story, or at least a meaningful one. A) She won't understand it and B) You'll wind up in the principal's office getting your car, backpack, person, and locker rifled through. Ms. Chase is clocked at 71 "Right?"'s, 15 "Whatever"'s, and 4 "I have absolutely no idea"'s per hour and Ms. Nuelle is right behind her with at least 1 pro-Christianity/anti-atheisti c comment per student.

Wentzville schools are HORRIBLE. we moved from FHSD and it is the BIGGEST (other than moving to Wentzville) mistake we have ever made. CHECK out schools FIRST. then decide where to live. my 1st grader goes to Heritage. Horrible. They are all sep. K in one building, 1-3 in another and 4-5 in another. What the H@*L. and another thing HALF DAY KDG. What are we in the dark ages. Wentzville needs to step up to the plate when it comes to education. get with the program. WE NEED NEW SCHOOLS and a more modern day approach to learning. take a look at other districts and catch up!!! Wentzville lagging WAY FAR BEHIND. Cant wait for my house to sell so I can move back to St. Charles.........

i read the comments in this post and i ask where are the parents who are complaining? in years past instead of complaining and waiting for someone else to take care of it ,we involved ourselves in the problem. maybe some of you parents should try this!

The Emperor's wearing no clothes. The public school system in this country is failing period. We have silos of self-congratulatory, self-centered, paint by the numbers approach to education. Taxpayers throw money into this sorry excuse for future investment. Give parents vouchers and the better practices will come forward and be emulated if the schools were competing for your dollars.

Unfortunately, most people stand back and pretend our "public schools are the best in the world". It won't even be allowed to be debated from the lobbyists and teacher's union. Somehow, the kids future is not the focus in all the politicizing. Look at St. Louis Schools to see the direction all public schools are heading. Pity.

I moved to Wentzville from Florissant a little while back, and found that the schools are completely different. Granted I came from a private school, but the teachers, often bad, aren't even as bad as the ones I've had at Holt so far. They all go too fast, they don't wait behind for you if you're trying to adapt, and it is plain terrible. I heard about that protest, and many of the English department teachers really had nothing to say about it. But I small the smile on his face. I don't think anything is taken too seriously, and honestly, I wish I could just move back. These stuck up rich kids out here make me want to punch my own face.

I am a resident of Wentzville and am very disturbed about this website.
I thought it was just for members of the Woodlands. How can people from O'Fallon, Potosi, St. Louis get access to this site when I had to prove who I was to get into it? I'm sorry, but I doubt very much kids were promised a parking space with their name on it. I hope not. I will take these complaints to the school and get their response. I just wish you would make those who say derogatory things put their full name and address and phone number and/or e-mail address. When you speak "Anomoly" there is no way to respond when all you get is small the smile on his face. I will respond with my results.

What's the Woodlands?
And how does someone from Wentzville get to claim they are from St. Louis?

And I seem to remember the Principal made some promise to students concerning parking spaces reserved for select individuals who did well on some tests, but who said something about a space with a name on it?

Get real folks, the problems start at home when parents defer parenting to someone else (schools, coaches, churches, or whatever). Get involved and you will be amazed at how much better things can be. As far as Holt goes, I give Kudos to Mr. John Waters (principal), who is is the real deal and truely cares about the kids he is responsible for. I could have sent my kids to any high school in the region and instead chose Holt. Oh by the way all of my kids are doing real well today at some of the top universities in America, so Holt did them just fine.

This is not a private site only open to the Wentzville Elite... lol. Do you even know how internet forums work? Anyhow I live in Wentzville also and it still says St.Louis under my name. So I can't say thats always right, I think it takes into consideration of your IP and where you actually typing from. For instance I am at work, so I wouldn't call people out on here.

yea i think the school pretty much sucks...they spent tons of cash on the soccer field and now they are working on a new project to build a football field that we already have? they say it is a practice field, but wh cant they just use the soccer field or something. also there is a spot that they could go to anyways next to the baseball fields and near the tennin courts. yea i dont see the reason for this but i think whoever is signing these contracts and wasting our money should not be in power.
