Under 21 Club Idea?

Do you think the area would support an under 21 (ie, 16-20) Club here in Wentzville?

Focus would be to provide teens a safe and social place to hang out on weekends during the school year and Weds-Sunday during the Summer.

Would feature Music, Food, Social Media Center (ie, Twitter wall), free Wifi and special theme events.

Location would be non smoking / no alcohol establishment, but still fun and engaging for teens. Would work with consultants / police to create best practices for safety and security.

Constructive Opinions Welcome ?

It's been done over and over in many locations, there's a reason none stay around- kids get bored or too much trouble comes about. Best to keep your kids involved in activities- sports- music- things that require some practice and pride.

We had a place like this in Wentzville. It is now office building as too much trouble came from it. It was by the railroad tracks in the heart of Wentzville.

Yes, thanks for the feedback.
I remember a little about the old Music Pit there in Wentzville, caught fire one night and they rebuilt into a few private office spaces.
Im just curious if a place like that could have been managed better.
I heard about another attempt- Club Exodus, from the Atkins Fidelis group- We all know where that went. I think it had potential although probably percieved as a different type of club.
With little "in town" options for the youth to do, I was just curious if, under the right environment / management, there would be a more interesting entertainment option for teens.
On a similar but separate topic. How come the city still can't gain any traction on the Swimming / Park plans that the voters approved the tax increase nearly 2 years ago? Seriously.. at the rate it's being "discussed / planned"- it won't be until 2014 until it's opened. Come on City! Make us proud to live here!

By all means, develop something. Drop a Brunswick Zone in, that would go over well. A theater would probably do well. A music/juice bar? Not so well. Kids of that age are going to do their drinking, age limit or not. They're not going to hang at a juice bar and listen to tunes. Have to give them something to do. Bowling, arcade, movie... There's a reason that the other "kids" clubs didn't go over well.
