My husband and I just had a home built here about a year and a half ago. We like the area. It has really grown. It is a nice city. The school districts are great, I can't say enough about how well my daughters grades have improved since we moved here.

The town is still growing and building and is looking more and more like west county.

I heard florissant isn't that nice... perhaps jealousy?

Oh and you can't beat the housing prices here. Very nice homes for an inexpensive price! Anyone thinking of moving here needs to get in now before the growth is over and the prices inflate like surrounding areas.

Florissant and most of north county started going down hill about 15-20 years ago and has never rebounded. I had an elderly uncle that lived in Florissant and we ended up moving him out to the Manchester area because of how run down everything got. Not trashing the people, I really hope it becomes a nice place to live for all of metro STL, but people who are saying its so much nicer then anything west or south is delusional.

No but thanks for the warning!

The only bad area of Wentzville is what locals call the "heights" its near the GM plant at 40 / 70. Its a Govt housing project thats been there for 20+ years. The city gets revenue for having it, but its a huge eye sore and contains a ton of questionable residents. Luckily you can't see it from the nicer areas, but it needs to be removed.

They even have an armed guard at the entrance, and removed the rear entrance to keep better tabs on the residents. Its where I believe the murderer was also hiding out that was on the run a few weeks ago.

Anyhow I wish we could do something about this place, if it wasn't for that Wentzville would be a notch above OFallon for the place to be.

The armed guard is there to keep convicted felons out of the neighborhood; including residents' relatives. They have a "list". They don't want any thugs from the 'hood' coming in there and running it down. Some of the residents there were complaining because their relatived are banned from the neighborhood. I say too bad we can't do this everywhere!

The area that he is talking about is called Hidden Valley Estates which has a low crime rate despite what people think...look up your facts...the "Heights" are located on the other side of town..Both places have people who are on some type of gov. assist. just like alot of the areas in Wentzville that you seem to be more "comfortable" with. Most people in both areas are working class people who are trying to raise their children just like you may be....And by the way, I have a feeling that you associate crime with only prodominatley black communities...I must warn you though with urban sprawl there are alot more black people coming to live in your wonderful area too...hope nobody judges you because of where you live...or who lives there with you Quote

I am so tired of people commenting that Wentzville would be a better place if certain communities weren't in it..People comment on the "Heights" or the "Valley" like they really know. So they are communities of working poor..yes, some people are on assistance but there are alot of people that are and they just don't know it...mainly due to the fact that it's nobody's business..What kind of community would you prefer?? One that only lets in the "right" kind of people or one that provides housing for people with assist. needs or low cost rentals...You can't have it both ways..you either care about people or you don't but you need to be more informed about the subjects you comment on in the first place...

I moved from north co. 5 years ago and really like Wentzville. As for the "heights" it is a housing complex....but it is the nicest one I have seen. It was the worst place in the area 15 or 20 years ago but that has changed.
The guards are there for the protection of the residents. If anyone living there or visiting is arrested there for any reason...they are never allowed back. Children are not even allowed to visit their moms.
It is a one shot rule. Get arrested and you are gone. Caught back on the grounds you are prosecuted. This has helped break the cycle so many inner cities are unable to break. Where friends and relatives help drag down good people.

I have been in there many times and my teenage son is there every week for worship band practice.

Now there is an area of wentzville that I would say is a problem...(all towns have them) it is the subdivision immediately north of hwy 70 and immediately east of hwy 61.

mostly minor stuff....but that is the area where a majority of people getting arrested actually reside.

Yep, another blind pig thought he found an acorn. He thinks the flat tops behind Rallo Plaza is the Taj Mahal. What a lame brain.
