No bailout from the Senate. Thanks UAW. I guess you would rather have no job instead of a pay cut. I've been inside the GM plant at Wentzville and I could not believe that at most fixtures workers have TV sets so they can watch their daytime soaps in between vans. What do you expect they only make $30 plus an hour. Its sad that when a company needs help these UAW fat cats step up.

for your information we DO NOT make $30 plus an hour and some second tier make $14 an hour or less....and we have given concessions. We do not have tvs to watch soaps....the monitors are for line information and when people like you spout off nonsense it is just more of the same stuff we have heard for years....you hate us cause we work for the auto industry and make a decent wage (it's not a gravy train), but you then ask the company is hiring..... either you hate us and call us lazy or you want to be one of us
stop hating and realize that if the auto industry shut down it will have a domino effect and the suppliers, dealers, vendors, small businesses etc. will suffer

Hi, rumor here is there's a delay of two weeks on the chassis you build for us. Is there any truth to this?
Thanx!

Only one thing to say. When unions are strong, the country is strong. For the naysayers, just look at corporate profits, ceo and corporate presidents get for their labors compared to even union members. The problem is not union and hard working union members, it's corporate greed.

Always remember, if it were not for the people who start or own any company, you labores would not be working. Give praise and thanks to your owners.....they made it happen, not the union guy next to you
May anger you, but the truth hurts and if the job is bad, move on, someone else will take it in a second.....sorry but true

UAW presidents approved the contract on Friday. It still has to be voted on by the 48000 UAW workers. Ratification is expected by next Tuesday. If approved, GM expects to hire for a second shift at the Wentzville plant. They are currently looking at facilities in 20 different states to decide which to expand. Wentzville is looking good for the 2013 expansion. Mayor Lambi and city council voted last week to approve the tax incentives. If Wentzville gets the new truck line, we can expect another 1400 jobs in our fair city, which will benefit everyone.

Based on information from GM in 2007, average hourly wages - including OT, Shift differential, holiday pay etc...- was $39.68. This does far exceed the stated $30. If you add the cost per worker for benefits, health-care and pensions, you can add another $33 per hour.

If you are a UAW worker who disputes these numbers, please share your wages and benefits with all of us to clarify. This seems to be the amount base don numbers 4 years ago. Have you lost wages since then?

I totally agree. I worked 13 years at Chrysler in Fenton. There was'nt a night that I would come home not feeling beat. People who don't know shouldn't throw stones. But I would do it again just to have a job. Have an extra referral?

Hello
Well, I'm posting for my boyfriend who used to work for Ford Motor Company and is now interested in working for General Motors in Wentzville. I called the GM plant in Wentzville to obtain some information upon the hiring process and the lady told me that they are accepting people through referrals. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone that works up there and he doesn't either which is disheartenly because he won't be considered based on his lack of having connections. Therefore, I wanted to ask any of you who are currently employed if you have any pointers or tidbits that will help him get his foot into the door.
