My child will be starting in the Wentzville School District this year, and we were notified that since our child's daycare provider is within 1 mile of the Heritage school we will not be provided with bus transportation, eventhough at least 6 buses will travel right by. If my child was older it may not be a problem, but he is 5. When I made several calls the lady at central office was like can you not provide transportation. I told her that if I could I would not be calling. I informed her that myself, and I am sure many others work, and our not able to provide transport to our children. After many calls to the Central office, I was told that due to Full day Kindergarten, they will not be able to provide transportation for the kindergarteners. I have lived in Wentzville all of my life, and they have always transported the Kindergarteners. Since the school is a public school, it should provide transportation to all those attend.

I can only say that since you're the mother, YOU SHOULD PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FOR YOUR CHILD!
You've managed to make arrangements for day care, maybe you could find a way to make arrangements for transportation.
The public schools do not have to provide transportation. In fact many districts are cutting busing this year with the economy shriveling.
As a side note, the money spent for full day kindergarden took money from busing- blame the administration for this. Adams pushed this through, even though the district can't fund it past 2 years. They now already plan to ask for a tax increase in November. Think you pay enough already? Wait until Adams has things his way with no control from the school board, you'll be paying taxes at an assessment rate of nearly 50 cents.
Too bad the voters voted out on of the respo0nsible board members and placed a money-sucking union member in place.

As a mother I have to work to provide for my children, and maybe if the school did not pay the the central office employees over $200,000.00 a year then they could provide transportation for all of the students. Were you aware that the superintendent has received $50,000.00 in raises over the past 4 years. In my opinion the Wentzville School District needs a major audit to see where all of the money goes

I agree that the administration needs reduced. Far too many in the central offices for the tasks at hand. They have several people doing the communications for the district that used to be handled by one person. Each of these people gets paid far more than the one person did.

Not sure of Adams actual salary, but yes, I know he has gotten huge increases.

This district has more administration than comparable size districts in the area. An audit would be welcome.

Who do we blame for the pay and swollen staffs? THE SCHOOL BOARD! GO to a meeting and express your opinion.

Want to know where a large amount of dollars go in this district? To settle ligitgations, or avoid them. The district violates policies and right of the students continually, the staff and administration is unaware of proper procedure, so they must pay to resolve the issues.

They pay a lawyer to represent the district, then pay the lawyers company to develop policy for the district that leads ot some of the lawsuits.

The district is doomed with the current board, the current Superintendent and the current lawyers, the current architects who design buildings that need massive repairs in the first year and the builders who are given huge contracts just because they are union.

The district- like most of business and government- is corrupt!

The Post Dispatch did a story on teacher salaries a few years ago. You were able to search by district and school to see each salary. There were many cases where teachers that were approaching retirement, simply switched and became the librarian at their same salary....earning $75,000 per year.

Claim that the child has some mental issues and put him on a IEP, then request transportation on a special needs bus, it could work or you know just protest or threaten to sue, the school district those options could work.

DiamondPheonix, those items you list are great for the students. They will enhance the learning process. But I think many of those smart boards may have been purchased by the PTO and other groups.

The largest part of the budget goes to salary and benefits. That is not unlike most businesses.

I totally agree with everything. This district could save so much money if they thought of things tjat could help us rather then costing us millions of dollars on things the students can't use. school is suppose to be about us not them. If they want a change they should ask the people it affects!!

Great, the board of education will probably make it worse now by giving him a huge raise.

The "shiny new toys" that were purchased were purchased because of a donation that some private citizen made for technology. Not going to use this as an excuse, but please learn a few things prior to posting.

Some daycare providers provide transportation, some do not. It is up to the parent to make the arrangements ahead of time. Our provider arranges transportation to and from school, we chose them partly because we could not provide the transportation.

i was going to say the SAME THING!!! Is the mother too ignorant to know that MANY area daycares provide transportation to and from school? I used to work at ABC Daycare and buses stopped there all the time. AND they also had a drop-off/pick up vehicle.
I know Kids R Kids has a drop-off/pick up vehicle.

How on EARTH do you justify saying that a teacher in ANY DISTRICT makes too much money???? These men and women EDUCATE YOUR CHILD!! If your kid grows up well-adjusted, educated and wants to teach others with kindness and compassion, look to the TEACHERS who instilled joy in their hearts and taught that learning/teaching can be a fun, rewarding and VALIANT profession. If you disagree then you are truly ignorant.

The teachers union is so out of touch with the community. Most teachers don't pay into social security because they don't need it to retire.
A teacher I know wanted to know why he couldn't get disability from social security. BECAUSE HE DODNT PAY INTO IT.
Stop crying poor mouth for a great salary that pays you for eight months of work.
