I don't know a single CFO who puts in a 9-5 schedule and is only focused on a narrow set of issues. Maybe the current school admin is afraid to hire a private sector business chief as they fear they would expose the current inefficiences of their kingdoms. Yeoman's obnoxious and poor handling of the Byam PTO gift store shows that talent is indeed needed in Chelmsford. I think the Pioneer recommendation of consolidating town and school business managers is a great idea.

Probably is not necessary to have a full time person, some districts now even have part-time Supers.
It's fuzzy math, and that's why the towns and cities struggle trying to figuire out the school departments budgets, and if a true CFO was hired, they might tip off the communities as to why they are paying so much

The above 2 posts are spot on. What a bunch of malarkey. A very little bit of common sense is all one needs to run the school business office. The tricky part is just that; the schools want someone who can hide the real numbers in places like spec. ed., etc.

Exactly, we need more transparency into the school budget but they clearly want to hide and protect.
