In a recent story about the Christian Science church,“Church Struggling to Heal”(July 1st), one critic suggested that “modern medicine has robbed the church of its purpose.” For me, the purpose of Christian Science is much larger than merely an alternative choice of health care.
In her primary work on Christian Science prayer-based healing, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy noted,“The Bible teaches transformation of the body by the renewal of Spirit [God].” As I’ve learned more about my relationship to God who is all good, all loving, I’ve found a renewed sense of identity and healing has been the natural by-product. I have found that my study of Christian Science has not only made me better physically, but spiritually, in relationships, financially, and in other ways. Step by step, the more I come to understand my true relationship to God, the better off I’ll be.

Well said. Christian Science indeed Heals. I have been a Christian Scientist for 53 years and the blessings and healings I have had due to the Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy along with the Bible have been numerous. With correct thinking through God we are far more powerful over our bodies. God made man perfect, just look at Jesus, so we must see ourselves as God made us. The rest is just unreality. Your thinking determines your outlook in life. If people read the Science and Health they would know and love themselves better.

Christian Science lol, you people are nuts. the biggest study done on pray healing, double blind that cost $20-million, showed pray did not work, in fact the one group that was prayed for ending up have more problems. What is wrong with America? oh yeah the crazy religious people.

Well, yes, I had some supposed healings, some of the readings are comforting. However, many of the quotes are from the bible, and yet look like Eddy wrote them, as she does not use the " marks, to indicate scripture, and its usually loaded language and twisted scripture. But dont believe me or Dr. Linda Kramer, or Barbara Wilson, or Caroline Frasier, or others that are highly educated, left cs, just compare what the bible says to Science & Health. Sadly it is a CULT

If a faith proves for those attending why the harsh response from those who have not taking the time to study it. Judging others is a slippery slope. It is clear that God-the creator of all, heals. We see that in many faiths. The benefit of CS is seen in the serve that the church and its members provide to society. All the CSer's I have met have been thoughful, kind, honest, hard-working, faithful people living the best life they can. We should all work to do the same....
