These guys are worthless at best. When will someone do something about this department?

really, the town sounds like a race track in the evening, plus all the broken windows and car burglaries. Where are these guys at all the time?

not only that, but my neighbor has about 5 or 6 buddies that own "hogs" like he does & every weekend it's sounds like a rally in my neighborhood, Ave C & 9th! there's really no point in going full throttle in just the 3 blocks it takes til Main St! really pisses me off when he does that at 0630 too. you'd think these a**holes would get a life & take their noise out on the hwy where it belongs!!! maybe if they'd hire some real cops instead of diesel dykes, but then again... oh well LOL.

I heard today that two more good cops quit because of all the BS going on and cause they couldn't take the little short A.H. down there. Lazy, racist and dumb, thats them. But who do you call to complain?

Lived in DC during late 50s, great police force, recall Woody Sullivan, great officer. Seems theres was a sheriff, or deputy, W.A. Hatfield and he was a good one. Sounds like the good old days are over, but they are everywhere. Kids grow up watching TV and believe that the cop shows are real and that is the kind of cops they become. My hat is off to the good ones, the ones who can work with kids and get results, need more of them.

2 If anything they have too many police officers compared to other places. You can't blink without the police force knowing about it! Which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I have a completely opposite opinion of some of the posters above. I have lived in bigger places like Lubbock and now live in a different state in another small town and believe me Denver City is a great place! |

1 He tells me, and I point him in the right direction. I even printed a map out for him. With my tongue in my cheek, I hand him the map and go about my business. We all know that D.C. isn't exactly a sprawling metropolis. But really folks, doesn't this strike you all as just a tad bit amateurish for what I later discovered was a 3rd year officer on the force? Entering private property without a warrant or cause, lack of knowledge in regards to his own jurisdiction are just a couple of things that don't inspire confidence in the local peace officers. Miller hasn't accidentally shot himself lately, has he? Is he still head honcho? Anyway, I think you get the point. I'm certainly glad my taxes don't make municipal payroll in D.C. anymore. Denver City was never a Mecca of culture or interest. But, it used to be a very nice place to live... 10-20 years ago. Now, with boarded up storefronts and rundown neighborhoods, it is a depressing remnant of the town I once knew. Now it's more akin to a rundown border dive. A lot of us grew up there. As I drove around town, the point really got driven home as to why so many of us grew up and left. Mustang Pride was no cure and offered no refuge for the small town of Denver City. It's sad when a Border Patrol vehicle parked at any shop on Plains Hwy. will cause mass "resignations" up and down the street. And it's sad that the employers on that same strip of pavement have forsaken any stewardship of their own community just to save a buck on their payroll.(Sure... there's nothing unusual about an employee submitting a different SS# and DL# on a monthly basis!) It seems that citizens of Denver City are today reaping what town leaders and major employers have sown for years. Rig workers, and oil service driver/operators make 1/3-1/2 the salary in Denver City than they would working for the same company in other parts of Texas. Yet the cost of living (goods and services) is much higher than areas like Houston, or Dallas. Of course, housing is cheaper and that's no mystery. It all culminates in the problems such as those made subject by this post. I saw it coming 30 years ago. The drop in population since I lived there tells me that I was not the only one with a foreboding vision of what the future held for D.C. Even if your barrel is full of oil, it still has a bottom. Now you're scraping it, and it's not the lack of oil causing it. My heart goes out to those that still abide there. I have many fond memories of growing up in D.C. I do understand that there are some redeeming qualities to living in a small town, however, in D.C. they seem to be greatly diminishing and at a breakneck pace. |
