Apparently. The CDC has recently approved "norovirus" as the official term for the genus of Norwalk-like viruses (NLV). See

I think we are getting hit with this here in Chicago. My little guy has the stomach flu and we had to take him to emergency last night because he wouldnt stop throwing up. The doctor in the ER said they had several children come in last night with the same symptoms.

Hope your youngster is feeling better. Recognize, though, that if he is suffering from a norovirus he is likely to remain contagious for some days following his apparent recovery. These viruses are highly contagious and no vaccine exists. To help prevent their spread, see the Q&A in the link in post #2 which points out the importance of hand sanitation and household cleaning with bleach-based cleaners.

We had a similar virus here last semester. It's apparently some kind of norovirus, highly contagious. It tends to spread through dorms and dining halls.
