What is wrong with these parents? If they don't want the children anymore, find someone who does. I'm a single mom and things do get tough and VERY stressful, but I would NEVER take the life of my child. May the child rest in peace and the mom rot in HE11
I agree. I was a single parent for 12 years and raised four daughters, one with a disability and just what I made. And I worked a second job and still only got by. Parents really iritate me and the first thing they want to do is take the childs life. The child didn't ask to be here, what right do they have to take their lives. This woman needs the death penalty. An eye for an eye!! But then again, there are alot of women in prison with children, so she will get her just reward.

I knew it the first time I heard this ridiculous story. Took them a minute to find her guilty. She sent them on a rat race and they believed her for a minute. Crazy. Yeah another Susan Smith !!!!!! May she rot in he11. God rest the soul of that little boy. Just simply unbelievable.

why did they, the investigators just figure this out? they may have known for a while but just had to prove it in alot of ways, so she couldn't fight the evidence against her, I am a paralegal student and this is one thing, that the investigators most likely knew she did it but had to had hard core evidence to convict.
glad she's caught.

When they first reported this story many people on the internet posting said that her story was suspicious and some people who claimed to have known her came to her defense saying she would never hurt her child.

Well, I am like many of you all on this posting "Why did it take police several months to rule her story as unbelievable?" no excuse there are so many innocent people who have not hurt their kids but law enforcement or Barney Fife clones come in and immediately arrest those people or leak information to the press as to rise the suspicion of wrongdoings on the parent but when they are wrong nothing is done.

What I want is a universal system to give all parents the benefit of doubt innocent until evidence is found that you are liar.

We have no consistency in who can wait before being arrested and those we are accused and arrested.

The legal/law enforcement system is bogus

I just can not under stand how a person can kill their own child... If she didnt want the boy or hated him that much for whatever the reason then give him to someone who wants a child!
She makes me want to PUKE!!

There must be something about the last name "Smith". This Smith even used the same storyline details of what happened as the whacko Susan Smith from Union. It was obviously a lie. What a terrible thing to do to your own flesh and blood. What a disgrace to motherhood!

That is a truly ignorant statement designed only to impress others with your stupidity of trying yet again to raise the ugly race card. It has gotten tired.
WTF are whining about.Just called it as I saw it. There was no picture or sketch on the WLTX site. No race card here, just a reality check for people in denial like you.

Why doesn't this "report" state the description of the person she claimed to be the suspect?
To Aurora co and Harry:
They posted the description and the sketch of the "suspect" in the first few articles about this supposed carjacking. Why should they do it again now after the real killer has been caught, and the sketch is bogus?

Did not see the first few articles on this story.I stand by my original premis that there will always be some kind of picture if the suspect is black and that the lack of a picture usually means that the suspect is white. Also applies to the term dangerous/armed. If black, armed and dangerous, if white just armed.

I am sure they wanted to make sure there were no loopholes for her to get through. Evidence testing takes a while from my understanding.
And.... not everyone thinks there is a difference in race when it comes to criminal activity.

Did anyone really ever believe her story to begin with? Being a mother I know that there is no way I would have gotten out of the car with my child still inside.

i'm not a mother, well that depends on who you ask, but most people would take a bullet for any family member. and you can probably multiply that times 100 when it comes to your children.

I have been following this story from the beginning. I am just relieved that they finally locked her behind away. I had a feeling she did it from the very first time I heard about it. Finally Devon can rest in peace and his family can get some closer, its not going to bring Devon back but at least they have closer and him in their hearts.

Didn't this woman attempt to kill her son before with the house fire? The story she came up with sounded like BS to start. Come on a guy is going to lock her out of her car and has a pillow ON HAND mind you to suffocate her son, his motive would be??? I am really surprised that it took police this long to charge her. There are some jacked up ppl in this world.

Hmmmm, a woman named Smith lies about a carjacking that never occurred on someone else and in the end her own child is dead. I am not surprised.

This woman killed her child. It's no surprise. She meant to kill him in the house fire. She just didn't succeed. As far as the police They had to have hard evidence to charge her with murder. If there were any mistakes she would go free. Also who is to say there is no mistakes in evidence. She has not been try ed yet. What is the law of our country. Innocent until proven guilty. They took the time they needed to build a case. Then they took her into custody. I my self usually don't give law enforcement credit. How ever in this case I feel strongly that they have a solid case to punish this piece of shit. May she rot in hell. And to the investigator's Thank you for your work and determination in not giving up. May Amanda R Smith burn in hell. And that innocent boy RIP.
