Any quote taken out of context can appear to be a menacing or treasonous claim. However, when the full quote is used, it becomes clear that Obama meant that he was willing to stand up and fight for those values that have always been American because we are a nation founded on religious freedom and tolerance and we are a nation of immigrants.

Here's the full quote:

"Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

Nice try at fear mongering though. When you read the real quote you realize that Obama is standing up for what our founders intended America to be and not what it has unfortunately become.

Pitiful attempts at distorting the truth such as this is exactly why Obama is so far ahead in the polls right now.

From Dreams of My Father:‘I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.’

From Dreams of My Father :‘I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.’

From Dreams of My Father:‘There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.’

From Dreams of My Father:‘It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.’

From Dreams of My Father:‘I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa , that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.’

And FINALLY the Most Damming one of ALL of them!!!

From Audacity of Hope:‘I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.’

Awwwww Doofie, I got to you again didn't I? Keep slinging it there pal, you're the reason McCain's losing. Keep flapping your clap trap. Keep spewing your hate. Keep driving up Obama's numbers.

The only way McCain's is going to win is if the republicans steal this election like they did back in 2000.

So if Obama is a Muslim, how come everyone was all upset about his Christian preacher, the Rev. Wright? That's some odd Musliming going on there.

D'oh!

Tonka, you done hit 'em with a fact. Watch the crazy spin machine go into effect now! They'll start putting up YouTube videos proving to you beyond any doubt that Jesus is on his way back and they'll cite Fox News sources so fast it'll make your toes curl.

Ummm. Only one thing though. They won't hit you back with any truths. Sit back and watch, it's entertaining.

As long as we're quoting, here's one that's relevant-

"I have no use for America or her damned institutions... The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government"

That quote is from Joe Volger, founder of the Alaska Independence Party, a party dedicated to seceding Alaska from thew United States. Todd Palin was a longtime member of this treasonous party, and Sarah Palin has addressed their yearly convention multiple times, telling them this summer to "keep up the good work".

That, my friends, is as close to treason as you can get without actually shooting at someone.

Speaking of shooting, though, another longtime friend of John McCain, whom McCain came to the defense of only last week, is convicted Watergate felon G. Gordon Liddy, a man who has admitted to plotting a firebombing, to plotting the assassination of journalists and others
he saw as enemies, and on his radio show has instructed listeners in the best method of
killing law-enforcement (ATF) officers: "Head shots, head shots.... Kill the sons of bitches!"

Yessir, some really interesting quotes out there from the McCain camp. They're REAL Americans!

Very well put.

On another board here, one of the feeble minded has so eloquently pointed out that since Liddy "did his time," his crime is somehow excusable. I don't think it gets anymore pathetic than that does it?

Oh, and speaking of Palin, how about that dividing up the oil profits among the citizens of the state of Alaska?

Wow, was that not "distributing the wealth" at its finest?

The key word here that keeps emerging in my mind is hypocrisy.

Which board? Liddy did NOT do his time- he was sentenced to 20- and got out in 5, pardoned by Carter.

Liddy did NOT do his time!

And he is utterly and completely unrepentant.

And McShame admires him. Scumbag.

Ah just look around here somewhere. I think it is one that has something about Liddy giving money to McCain's campaign and one of the more feeble minded fools here seems to think that since that terrorist Liddy spent 5 years in jail that he is somehow excused for his crimes. Son of a bitch should have been executed for treason.
Whatever

This is a minor technicality which doesn't really change your excellent point. Carter didn't pardon Liddy. He commuted the sentence.

I wonder though ... did Liddy ever pay the $40,000 fine?

What about McCain's criminal friend Liddy? He actually did time for his crimes and now he is contributing money to McCain.

You can make progress in business and legal affairs as the Moon and Mars harmonise. Use this energy to express your point of view and persuade others; at the very least you should be able to disarm your enemies and gain a firmer foundation for future success. For some of you, this aspect will be felt in your relationships with in-laws, who may occasionally seem like enemies!
