Heard last-night that once the us steel order is filled that they were going to have another lay-off so LOOK-OUT its coming soon dont know how this will effect the strip or deep mines but think no orders then no need to mine all the coal well i guess we just got to see what will happen we are all in it together i know that the sells for may dont look good at all but they say that june looks ok right now but remember that could also change nothing makes sence at bluestone anyways you go in oneday and they tell you that no-more sat or overtime then go back the nextday and you are back to working sat but also 10 hours a day 6 days a week so what im hearing starts to add up with 2 10 hour shifts and the coal that we have stock-pilled TRYING TO FILL ORDER MAYBE

Normal bluestone, the calm before the storm. They need to get there heads out of there ass and let there employees know what is going on. One minute your working 5 day 8 hours and then now were told that we working 6 days 8 hours. Jay is just trying to get the coal out before he doesnt make any money on it. preacher tom as he say looses his religion when he enters the mines, now that is true christian good thing everyone who claims this will be knocking on hells door together with TL.

Doesn't Bluestone have contracts locked in through 2010? If so, why would they lay off?

How do you know that they have contracts through 2010? I think everbody is starting to worry now and what about the contracts if the Russians really bought them out, will they still get the contracts?

contracts goes with bluestone from what we are told.they also say that when the russians take over that they are going to use most of the coal for their own steel mills but who really knows.good news we are getting more railcars 50 of them.we also have a 38,000 tone order thats about 20 days of work so some good-news.

I read in an article that one of the advantages of the buyout for the Russians is that it 'appears' that Bluestone had contracts that were locked in until 2010. That makes it sound as if the contracts were sold with the company. And, as plant worker said, since Mechel is a huge steel business, wouldn't they use a lot of the coal for their own company? Maybe, just maybe, this will be a good thing. With the way coal mining jobs are going, it sure would be nice to have some peace of mind though. When the heck are we going to find out for sure?

hi folks. i was just checking around about rumors i had heard at work about bluestone selling out.. well its seems it is true that they sold all the union mines in west va.... but what many of you all probally dont know is that they have 5 deep mines in harlan county kentucky that they aquired about 1 yr ago.they also have 2 high wall miners going and about 2 or 3 strip jobs here .they also have a mine in tennesse that they bought 4 months ago at that mine in tenn i heard they have about 40 to 50 yrs of coal reserves .. they also bout a mine an prep plant in manchester ky. all of these mines i speak of are non union.. they contracts that they had at bluestone they keep an are going to be filled by these mines in ky an tn..visit our topix in harlan an ask about them liggett mining infinty mining i'll be back at a later date to talk more about what i find out.. i work for them here in harlan county.

that Jay and his family own mines in Kentucky and Tennessee. We also know that, of course, some of the contracts will go with him. What we DON'T know is how many of them. It's unlikely that the new owners bought the mines with absolutely no coal contracts. Although they are a huge steel company and will, undoubtedly, use some of the steel themselves, another rumor has it that some of the long-term contracts were sold with the company. Thanks for putting more fear in everyone's hearts though, Buddy.

Excuse me, I meant to say use some of the coal for their steel company-not use some of the steel themselves.

well we were told yesterday that everything was going to be fine,so i guess we go from there.i've worked for bluestone for along time and i can say that i give them a hand this time.Any-other time bluestone is the first to lay-off their men and shut mines down, but this time for some reason bluestone is trying to keep all they can working we could be like a lot of other places,so hats off to em

Plant worker, could you elaborate on what everything is going to be fine means? I mean, yeah, we're lucky that the men are still working but no overtime at all is rough! Do you know if the regular hours will resume anytime soon?

what i meant is we were told that we had coal orders and that we would be fine.i dont know when the overtime will resume and i feel for all the men who lost it,but me i look for things to get worse before they get better and i'm not trying to get anyone down either i just call it the way i see it when the russians take over in may who even knows what they are going to do so it could get a lot worse

Plant worker, you just erased all the 'hope' your first message gave. You said you were told everything was going to be fine. Then, when asked to elaborate, you say that you look for things to get worse!!
