I don't know for certain but I wish they would have it some where else. Bergoo is OVERRUN with 4 wheeler traffic. And of course it is overlooked that it is illegal to run 4 wheelers on the road coming to and from Bergoo to the ball field. Where are the police men.(participating) Some one is going to get killed, and when the family of the deceased sues Curtain then maybe things will change. I forgot to mention the amount of trash that is left behind in Leatherwood and Peaceful Valley it is disgraceful. Because money is raised for the fire department then I guess all of these broken laws can be overlooked. Did anyone think to ask the residents if they wanted it there or if they would mind. NO! Thank you county commission for representing us. NOT!

hate it there is always someone that has to bitch but when and if your home was on fire you would be thankful. there is nothing wrong with it and they cleaned up their mess last year. There is 4 wheelers up there all the time on the road and the law isnt up there. them people riding is bring money in to this county so shut up if your not riding or your family then dont worry about someone getting hurt is has nothing to do with you. not everyone would sue!! I think it was a great fun family filled day
and no one got hurt. thank you cant wait to go and support the fire department and have a good time enjoying the wv mountains with my family.& friends

Just because the police do not patrol Bergoo does not excuse the fact that it is illegal to be on the highway. And regardless of whether or not they have the the event in Bergoo they still have to respond to emergency calls. If you want to see real revenue come into this county then the police should start making arrest and giving out citations to the people that are breaking the law on their 4 wheelers. And that is exactly my point, as I had stated before there are 4 wheelers here all the time. We do not need more. Why don't you tell me where you live and I will bring about 1 or 2 HUNDRED of my closest friends and we can ride in front of your house ALL DAY LONG!

There has always been controversy over the 4-wheelers in Bergoo. Yes, most go on the weekends and holidays and rip and tear. I know from experience because I used to do that. I know that where I live I wouldn't want 4-wheelers going up and down in front of my house ALL day and ALL night with these people acting like idiots. I have watched them at the Bergoo Bash and yes they have fun, but have you thought about the people that live in Bergoo? They can't even enjoy having their families or friends visit because of the trash and people that don't care about this little community. Move this thing somewhere else so people that live in Bergoo can enjoy their weekend also.

Hey FED UP, why do you have to use bad language. Is your vocabulary so small that you have no other way to articulate what it is you are trying to say. Small minded. Grab a dictionary some time.

I am for the Fire Dept. and raising money for worthy causes. However, people should not have to deal with these types of things. The four wheeler problem in Bergoo is way out of control. The county has NOT done a thing! They Sheriff's & State Police handled an incident where a Trailer was torn up by people four wheeling & camping on Curtin property. And did their job. But they do nothing about the people who ride on the roads flying on the black top state maintained roads (which is illegal) while drinking beer and pitching their beers cans off in the road. It is a disgrace. I hope some day Curtin gets a law suite thrown at them for someone who has been injured or killed on their property and they finally shut it down to all traffic. The dust, trash, noise and plain old disregard for the people of Bergoo by the four wheeler traffic needs to stop. People cant even walk down the street or let the children ride their bikes due to the four wheelers.

The commission best wake up because they are gonna loose more voters. The commission says the four wheelers bring revenue? Gas & beer sales are about it. I say go down on any holiday weekend and start arresting the four wheeler riders for operating on the road, DUI, and whatever else you can get them on. You will make more money in fines than they buy in beer & gas.

You live in Bergoo? You enjoy the dust, trash, beer cans thrown everywhere? Not to mention I have to power wash my house all of the time. And another resident made a water truck to help combat the dust.

You are either out of your mind or just enjoy living in squalor.

The four wheelers are a problem and something needs to be done. Someone will get killed again just like that young boy last summer who drove off of the mountain. It is a shame. I hope that never happens again, but it will.

The Fire Co. needs to raise money but they dont need to harass a neighborhood to do it.

I also live in Bergoo....All who are complaining need to get over it. Let's talk about dust...The dust not only comes from the four wheelers but from the log trucks...so should we stop the logging....It comes from people in their cars who use the road to get in and out of Bergoo....Should we stop vehicle traffic. Let's talk about the accidents which happen in and around Bergoo...They happen all the time...should we stop all the four wheeling? Last year on the weekend of the Bash, I don't believe that there was a single accident involving a four wheeler. I believe the resident who made the water truck did that to combat the dust when they were loggin up leatherwood. If you choose to live on a dirt road, you should also choose to have to deal with dust....it can't be helped....To the person who is asking the date of the Bash...it is on the 4th of September and I for one hopes it is bigger and better than it was last year....the Fire Department did a wonderful job and raised quite a bit of money and I am glad so that if I ever need them....they will have to financial capability to respond...

Yes, there have always been 4 wheelers in Bergoo. Yes, there have always been log trucks and when there were not log trucks it was coal trucks. No one would ever tell someone that they could not make a living. Lets get real here.

In the last 10 years Bergoo has become the 4 wheeler capital of WV. Did the residents ask for this? No. Can it be made more safe and continue to be fun for those that come? yes, It just takes some effort from our local law enforcement officials. And some effort from Curtain to ensure that people are able to use the old log roads, keep them clean and safe.

Start enforcing the laws that are in place. Curtain could keep the roads water down in the residential areas. The fire dept did clean up the ball field after the event last year however, no one cleaned up the woods. If you bring drinks and food into the woods take it out with you. That is just common sense and it's against the law to litter. If you see trash pick it up. Stop taking the woods for granted. Curtain put up a gate once to keep people from trashing it. Maybe(hopefully) they will do it again if we do not respect it.

I am neither out of my mind and a little dust does not make "squalor". I do not like the trash but when it bothers me I get off my butt and pick it up. I do not like the dust, but a little cleaning never hurt anybody!!! If you feel like you are being "harrassed" I'm sorry, but I don't think you should speak for the whole community. Some of us enjoy the bash and have met some wonderful people who come here for it. Maybe IF you got out and tried to enjoy it, the dust wouldn't bother you so much. When people get on a four wheeler, they are taking the responsibilty that comes with it. It doesn't matter if there a a sponsored event going on or not, if a person is going to get hurt, it is going to happen....

i have lived in bergoo almost all my life and fourwheelers have always been a problem but its not like some people on here have claimed. its not really that bad, its kinda like living next to railraod tracks, you get used to the sound. as for the bash, i say why not. the people are going to be here reguardless so why not hold something up here? it gives carol's bar and the bergoo store an oppurtunity to make some more cash. i live on leatherwood rd and i can honestly tell you that if i wasnt told the bash was being held i wouldnt even know it. so that should tell you that this event isnt bringing in stupid amounts of people...its just like anyother weekend day up bergoo. there is one family in particular that throws up a fuss about everything and anything that they dont like. they think they are the kings and queens of bergoo and everyone should listen to them and do what they say. heck one will see smoke in the air and drive around until he finds the source just to see if he can turn them in for illegal burning. a woman from that family thought she was soooo important that she demanded the power company put her up in a hotel because she didnt have power for a week....it didnt matter that all of bergoo was without, she was more important. one turned in a coworker, that also lives in bergoo, for how he was parking the company truck...like it really matters. all this fuss about the bergoo bash and the fourwheelers is coming from one family and i can bet you anything they are fussing because they arent making money off of it.
