Chief: Rochester man scares off burglars with AR 15 rifle

Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard says a resident of a home confronted two burglars with a semi-automatic assault rifle and scared the would-be burglars off.

Rare for the media to report it when a person uses a gun to defend themselves, and it happens often like this, no shots fired. The AR style guns are very good home defense, accurate, intimidating to crooks, enough rounds to defend against multiple assailants when used with the magazine it was designed for. Chiefy was dancing around the questions, he knows the truth. Ask him if his cops put more than 7 rounds in their 15 round mags.

Funny, in the first news article on this they had the reporter asking the Chief the same question over and over. Do you think this is a good gun for home defense? Is this the type of gun people should have in their homes? Is this the type of gun the police want to see in a person’s house? The Chief kept dancing around saying well it was a legal gun and the person who had / owned it was legal, but, in a perfect world the police would rather be the only ones with guns at any police call.
