The less of these cameras the better. They are a travesty on the American idea of liberty. They need to take down the ones already in place. They rob us all of or freedom and privacy and allow for even lazier and ineffective police work. It is one piece in the totalitarian puzzle that is taking over the "Land of the Free".

I'm surprised there isn't one on every street corner after the US gov't has already made millions of unsuspecting citizens walking surveillance systems via cell phones (calls and cameras), laptops, ipads, anything utilizing GPS, etc

Sad but true. One of the biggest reasons I don't like living in the cities and suburbs. You only have a shred of privacy in the sticks.

Actually, even in the sticks, you'd be surprized at the number of personal web cams mounted to trees and trails for verious reasons.
With the price dropping for systems like these http://www.samsclub.com/sams/security-systems... there will be even more cameras out there.

There is a new search engine called "Shodan" that hackers can use to find all the individual cameras and set up thier own serveilance program. http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/305140/s...

Add to this the fact that anyone can download facial recognition software http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Miscellan...

Keep in mind that the big thing missing in the home grown facial recognition software is the HUGE database of faces like the FEDS have, but if you can get a picture off facebook ... and you can stalk anyone you want.

some basement hacker can really ruin your day if they are that bored.

Believe me Brother I know.I said "A SHRED OF PRIVACY".I will never use my real name, phone number,or any personal info on the web.The whole facebook social media thing really baffles me. Why people use it so willingly is beyond my comprehension. It is like we are living in a Phillip K. Dick novel. The only diference is in his books people were outraged by the intrusions in their lives, where in the reality we live in people welcome and celebrate it.Thats why I say FTW.Modern life has little in it worth living for.I really wish the internet never existed.Sure I use it but,it really has only had negative contributions to humanity.

Ah yes Facebook - I forgot to mention social media in my list.
I'd say it'll be scary if the latest immigration bill that most people don't know has a mandate for a national biometric database passes (--> http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2013-05/1... ) but i'd be a fool to think the NSA doesn't already have and utilize one.
