About time! I have been proposing this program for years now. I hope that Mayor Wong utilizes these funds as I had suggested. This program is essential toward building a sense of community.
I have proposed for the mayor to bring in five to six officers that she thought could best facilitate such a program. These officers could give business cards to young adults whom they feel are on the fence concerning at risk of falling into a life of crime.
These cards would direct these kids to the Mayors office where she could have them fill out applications and hire them to clean up Fitchburg.
Building a sense of community is vital for a better Fitchburg. We must promote respect from both sides and bring the community together as one.

I believe it's not really intended for city cleanup jobs, as much as real jobs with commercial employers who get reimbursed through the program. But, perhaps there is some leeway in how the funds are used and who is considered an employer.

I hope that the Mayors office is considered an employer. Fitchburg is in desperate need for summer jobs geared towards it's young adults.
These jobs will take away some of the burden put on their parents as we all face tough times economically.
I believe that the city of Fitchburg has the highest unemployment rate in the state. There are so many ways to address this fact.
We need a Mayor who will address all the local banks in encouraging them to invest within Fitchburg. Banks in turn could offer incentives to local home owners who will hire local labor.
I understand that the construction industry is lagging as this district is the second worst in the nation. This is a horrible fact. We need to concentrate on home renovation work in order to boost employment opportunities in the area. This segment of the work force is crucial to a good economy as they are the biggest consumer spenders.
We must always communicate our stances with our Congress. We need them to pass pro-American jobs legislation. Where their is a will there is a way.
