not blaming the victim but this should be a reminder not to put yourself in harm's way for a property crime. when i worked retail the management required a polite but hands off reaction to possible shoplifters. get a license plate. get a physical description but otherwise allow a security guard or cop to make the collar. this is a tragedy that should have avoided.

Roger is a hero in my book, at least he tried to stop him . It is too bad he did not live to see this creep go to jail.

If this jerk did this for $5, I fear what he might have done for more money - or what he had done already. Since he is now in jail, maybe justice can be properly served.
