I think the guy got what he deserved. If he was so innocent he would not have continued to lead police on a high speed chase endangering other motorists, the police, and especially at least 3 school buses of children. Even after he was finally apprehended he continued to keep kicking and moving around as if he foolishly thought he would get away. I think he was pretty dumb and could have gotten himself killed.

I am a police officer's wife and would rather see my husband come home safe at night then baby this criminal who is trying to hurt our officers. Get real chuck!!! Secondly, that guy would have received the same treatment if he was white. Why is it always racial.

Amanda I am with you, people need to stop boo hooing about these Criminals. I am not gonna say they deserve what they get but for crying out load.
are these people leaving there families daily to put there live on the line to protect thosuands of people no.
I am not married to a cop, But I know what is like to sit home praying that my Husband come home to me safe and sound. all my friends are cops. there was a time I hated cops, So I made sure I did not break the law because I did what I could to prevent a confrontation with them.
But now a day doesn't go by I don't talk to one.
For those of you feeling sorry for this guy that got beat up For one) there was a black cop hitting the man the same as the whit cops.
and two) do you feel nothing for the wives or family of the three officers who sat at home and watched that play out on tv and watch there husbands get injured by these guys, then have to rush to the hospital, hoping he will come right home with you, Hopeing it looked worse on tv than it really was and that they were only scratched.
How would you be looking at the situation if what ever it was that crimanial did to cause that chase,( and he caused the chase not the cops) did it to you or your loved one, and put fear in them, tell me you would not want to walk up and knock that guy around a few times yourself.
and three) think about this these cops arrest the same people day after day, for the same things, and they keep getting let back out on the streets to walk next to your child, your mother, he could be looking in your windows wondering if anyone was home right now.
Now tell me that is not stress, if the Judges would stop letting the people loose, the cops would not reach the boiling to hit on them when they themselves, are being hit, kicked, spit on, bit, shot, Stabbed.
think about it!!
Don't blame the cops, Blame the criminals they put themselves in that position themselves.

Right on Heather!!! Actually my husband used to work for Maplewood and we know the police officers on that tape. I feel really bad for them. They are great cops that would do anything for you!!
When my husband worked for Maplewood he was shot at..and that was the worse feeling ever!!

My husband is a Volunteer Fireman He is a Lt. and Chief arson Investigator.
So I know the lonley Feeling you feel.
I am so proud of my Husband he risks his life for people and Doesn't get or want any pay for it.
Our Men are Troopers. One thing thats saddends me in Regards to all the police officers is every So often on occasion, will still get people that and brag of the fireman regarding sept. 11. But I never see or here of any mention of the officers that also lost there lives in the towers.

My First run in with an officer outside my friends and the fire Dpt. was with a state trooper. I was in a rush and did not put on my seat belt and got a ticket I almost gave the poor man a heart attack when I told him thank you!!.
He said that has nver happened to him, he said he felt bad bieng the one to give me my First Ticket, But I told him I Broke the law and he was just doing his job.
I I had been in an accident I could have been seriously injured. so you can say he saved me.
My Best Friend is Lying in ICU Right now from a Car accident, Sat Night. The seat belt Saved her, Since my Ticket, and Telling my all Friends they need to wear them or they will get caught like I did. My friend and her Family all had theres on. Her Husband Is my Husbands Capt.
They are were all injured but they are recovering well.

Heather, I'm not sure how they are doing. I know one of them broke their wrist and the other hurt his shoulder.
My husband and I now live in Illinois because of my career choice..but when he worked for Maplewood they really helped clean up that city. There are still scary parts of the city...but it is a nicer town now because of the police.
My husband hasn't called any of the officers because he doesn't want to bother them.. But yesterday we sent them cards. I just feel really bad for them. THey are getting threats on their lives. I told my husband that and he said he used to get threats on his life all of the time. I'm glad there are people out there that can do that sort of thing because I wouldnt be able to get cussed out and threatened day in and day out.

i live in maplewood and although i am only 15 i know what our cops are like. they are assholes, rude, and get bored so they mess w/ people. i think that that guy should have only been hit like once, but they went WAY to far. this makes me really embarassed being from maplewood and all. i think yes it may have been somewhat of a race issue, but there was a black fficer. those police guys should totally be fired. i don't feel safe around here anymore. i dont want maplewood police to come and try to save me, someone might end up dead!!

Oh yeah the male cops also treat female cops the same way they do criminals. I have seen it first hand. Male cops demean female cops and dont like the woman in their so called manly world jobs. Im not sure if I mentioned this but, *psst*, COME HERE....I have a secret to tell ya. All male cops have SMALL PENIS's. THey are angry angry little wee men.

I also live in Maplewood, and the police here are great. I have never had a problem with them and they have always been very helpful. How dare you say that you are embarrassed to live in Maplewood.

Maplewood would be a lot a more scarey Place if there were no Cops. Because of your age I would Go into Detail, of what your Life would be like, without Cops.
there will be a Day, when you will need them and THEY WILL BE THERE. You should always be Proud of who you are, and were you Come from.
Cops Don't Make the City they Just protect it. it is the people who live there who make the City what is its. so Do good, Get Good grades, Don't Brake the Law and Kep your Nieghbor hood Clean, and it will be a better place to Live
