Haven't been on line at the same time as you since your visit with him.
Thanks! The visit was great. Was so hard to see him get on the plane going back, but hopefully he will be coming back stateside to Ft. Bragg sometime between July and October. Could'nt be soon enough for me.

Probably not anymore. I'm sure that if there were, it would violate somebody's civil Rights!

There are school employees in the both the city and county schools whose job descriptions include ensuring students attend school regularly and addressing truancy problems. While not called "truant officers", they do some of the same things such as working with students (and their parents) who are missing alot of school, making phone calls and home visits. If they cannot help the parent resolve the problem, then it becomes a legal issue. The school turns it over to the courts, and the parents have to go to truancy court for the judge to determine if they are in violation of the NC Compulsory Attendance Law.

Another example that some should have raised cobras instead of children.

ACT missed the boat on this report didn't they? This mom has definitely dug herself in deep.
I'd be kind of scared of a truant Cobra though... ;o

I know some parents like that - lazy slugs that couldn't find the wherewithall to get up off the couch and make dinner. The mother told the district she was home schooling...big hah! That really ticked me off because we DID home school 5th grade up and it's hard work - my husband had the math thank God - and thank God for Saxon math cirruculum.
Wonder what these people home school for math? Metric weights???

Cynthia Goodson Gomez...perhaps she MARRIED someone who is Hispanic?
Duh, the "Kindergarten" rules should apply. No name calling. Just because you don't care for people with an ethnicity different than yours doesn't give you the right to disparage them.
FYI, I'm second generation American. Do you want me to leave, too?
Gomez is still a mexican /hispanic name is it not? And yes you have a point, I was addressing the issue as if my point was right, not yours, not here to be "politically correct" and furthermore I am a first generation , but I didn't climb a fence illegaly . so please try and stick to the point in reference.

People should get all the facts before they post bullshit on the internet. take into consideration the fact that the women was workin 60 hrs plus a week to raise two children by herself. With no assistance from anybody of any sort. Why did the school waite for it to get that far?? A simple call to the mother could have saved us tax payers a shit load in legal expences.......
