My family may be moving to Weatherford soon.
I would like to know any information you could provide on the local school. I have a junior and freshman.
My daughter likes dance. Are there any local dance schools?
We are looking for an apartment. Any suggestions?
What would I expect to pay for a 3 bedroom rental?
Thanks in advance everyone!

Welcome...you will love weatherford. It is a great community with some very nice people. The schools in Weatherford ISD, Aledo ISD, and Brock ISD all have good reputations. A visit to each of their web sites will provide you some basic information. But just pick up the phone and call the school admin office; they will gladly help you.
I hope you and your family will come to love Weatherford as my family does - the wonderful Courthouse; the Beautiful Chandor Gardens; Clark Gardens; the great stores on York Avenue; the booming retail development at I-20 and South Main; Churches of most faiths; a community that really cares about its citizens. New stores still coming in every month. The transportation issues are gradualy being resolved. Takes lots of money and most of the projects are all TExas Dept of Public Projects but they are moving along nicely.
I hope to have the opportunity to meet you as you and your family settle in here. For help with housing, we have lots of good REaltors. I might suggest Joyce Wallace at Remax or Jamie Bodiford at Century 21. Apartments are a little limited but these ladies will guide to what is best for your family. Again, welcome neighbor. I hope to meet you in person soon.
I encourage to visit our Chamber office for a very nice relocation packet.

Thanks so much. I have looked over the other sites and was hoping to get more information from other residents; the good and the bad. Oh, I am perfectly aware that this isn't the ideal location for hearty optimism (LOL!) but thanks for the warning!
We are very exited about the move. Maybe we will be neighbors!:)

Wow. This 20somethinguy sounds rather scary to me.

This is a wonderful place to raise kids! The Weatherford High School has excellent ratings. There is the world famous Weatherford Blue Belles and the middle schools both have Dance Programs that lead into this program. Its wayyy beyond excellent! There is also The Rock, school of performing arts, gymnastics, and dance on Santa Fe Ave, and Maverick All-Star Tumblers, cheer, and gymnastics on S Main St. We have Weatherford College, excellent 2 year junior college.
Apartments. Hmm. Try College Park apartments on College Drive or newer apartments on Holland Lake Dr. Costs run about $1200.00 a month for 3/2. Nice places and will put you in the zone for the best elementary schools and middle schools. All kinds of places to go, things to do! Close by to Ft Worth, yet far enough away to avoid troubles.
Good Luck.

Man, have you ever chosen the wrong forum. Read the trash talk that losing candidates Tawni Maughan and Bill Moylan post here and you will change your mind in a flash.
Run, don't walk, RUN from this forum and google Weatherford, Texas. It's a very nice place to live, if you can handle hateful losing candidates and their factions. I liked it a lot, then I got dragged into discussing the last election and now those losers have decided I'm actually one of the incumbent winners.
There's a lot of websites you can use to check out towns you never even heard of. Good luck.
Oh, the schools are just average. Not a lot of big city educational benefits but pretty safe places.
What are you some nutbag? You probably don't live here and certainly don't seem like someone raised here. We don't want nor need your kind here.

Agree that Weatherford, Aledo, and Brock ISD has good reputation from most of the locals. You should do your due dilligence with Peaster or Millsap ISD. I hear a lot of negatives but could all be small town gossip too. Good luck!

Weatherford is a wonderful place for children. Yours are older. Maybe they don't want to move, but I know they will make friends quickly. Our high school is awesome.

Brock is fantastic for a 2A school. Aledo is very good. I would stay away from millsap. You always hear bad things from millsap parents. It seems they have some long term problems. Brock is best for a smaller school.

All the schools are good in the county. I hear very good things about Weatherford, Peaster, Millsap, Brock, and Aledo. I would suggest you visit the schools you are interested in. Each will have very distinct strengths.

Despite having our share of this and that's on this forum, WEATHERFORD is a great area to raise kids! Followed closely by Brock, then Aledo, then Peaster. Anyone you choose will be a good choice. Welcome to Parker County and don't let some negative politics scare you. Its healthy to have competition!

Yeah Dude, you are moving your kids to the right place. There is nothing for them to do really but if they like meth and heroin the high school is a great avenue for those. If they like to drink a lot and have sex, there are pleny of that goin on too. and there is a great new shop on south main st for all their drug and sex toy needs. they can walk over after school it is just that close. Good choice Muchacho

Lots of kids in weatherford area go to school in Brock. Check out their academic awards and then all the sports awards. Sports are not everything but they have a long history of playoffs in every sport. Academics are great. Smaller school. Don't think much of millsap or Peaster. They are Probably average at best in my opinion.

and we love the fairies and leprechauns in this imaginary high school. You sure havent been to our highschool if you believe this fairytale you just told. the building is great! but it is like that stadium you guys spent i have no idea how much on, it is great but the team sucks! not the guys but the whole vibe. this is the most screwed up, backasswards place my parents could have ever moved me to. Everything is the same, nothing is as it appears. Twofaced doesnt even get close. People will even quote the bible and maybe go to church on hour or two a month but they are hiding behind guilt and shame. I dont know why or how this happened but I know more kids whos parents have been married 5 or 6 times, or they are alcoholics, or addicted to pain meds, or you dont even want to know what weird shit they do, here than I ever meet in Austin or anywhere else. from what I hear there has always been a big meth problem here. I dont know why. but for you to say for me not to say anything when someone ask if he should move his kids here, it wrong. you all are those people who hide out and say the craziest things to people using different names on this site because you are the people I am talking about. Man up! or Woman up! I wonder how old you all are and how many days you will go on hiding until you just die. not me and not mine.

All schools have some problems. You have to find out if they have the same problems, year after year. Does the school improve every year or just stay the same? Does the student body feel a sense of pride for their school or are they always complaining about it? Parker county has some good schools. Brock probably has the best reputation for a smaller school but Aledo is good for a larger school. Your kids would probably do fine at either one. Brock has good high school principal that cares about all the kids. Millsap has new superintendent that was in Weatherford for many years and you hear that he is an improvement over the old one. You always hear that Millsap ISD takes in the problem kids from Mineral Wells and Weatherford so you may want to ask about that. A lot of Peaster teachers taught at Millsap before leaving for greener pastures. Peaster used to be very competitive in girls basketball and baseball if your kids like sports. Seems like their basketball coach had twin girls and was well thought of. I'm sure your kids will do fine here and don't forget to try some of our great peaches!

Weatherford is really a pretty nice place. There are a handfull people who don't like anything about the city except themselves.

The are mainly people who have run for office and were defeated and a few of their friends.

They criticize everything the city does, from building parks to improving the roadways. They NEVER have anything positive to say.

They also like to blame everything on the city. If there is a business that is not here, it's the city's fault. If a business they would like is not here, guess what? It's the city's fault.

The short story is don't let the vocal minority of negative people influence your opinion of this city.

That Excuse Me Cough Cough poster is Tani Maughan who likes to be known as Tawni. She used to have red hair, but now her hair is bottle red with gray roots. She runs for office a lot and loses bad every time because the good people of Weatherford know her well. Her parents didn't move her here. She was born here. Her parents are Johnnie and Sandra Maughan. They act ashamed of her. She's 51 years old. She's been a spoiled brat from the day she was born. She dropped out of high school when she was 16 and got married. She denies what the reason was but everybody who lived here then knows it. She says her son lives in Bali. Wherever he really lives, people know he has tossed her out of his life. Very sad. She said she was going to Bali to visit him in May after the election, but she didn't. Her whole story is one of her lies. She tells a lot of lies. She says she's Jewish, but her whole family is Baptist. She's been married at least 3 times. She's lived with several different men but she calls other people who have been married more than once two-faced sinners. She's shacked up with a new man now. Nobody knows him or where he came from. Her teenaged daughter lives in the same house with him. Tani is a horrible role model for that poor child. She has a yoga business but it must be failing like all her little boutiques did. Business has to be bad. She had to sell her house to Johnnie and Sandra. I know women she told to leave her yoga sessions because she hates one or two of their friends. You can learn a lot about Weatherford by listening to Tani. Just understand the truth is probably the opposite of whatever she tells you.
