There were many good suggestions at last nights meeting that drug on entirely too long. One we kept hearing was to change the city ordinances to allow for forward thinking changes But who makes the decisions to keep the outdated, inconsistent ordinances which ar road blocks for a free market and healthy economic growth which takes into consideration the desires of the citizens to keep a unique old town feel?

If those making the decisions are not educated in these matters and if they are not the type people who, even as elderly men, stay active and involved in community, how would they even know how to affectively change ordinances. This has been the root of the problems with the downtown areas. The city council does not have their eyes to the future nor an ear to the public. Even if they did they are so aged and in poor health that I don't think they could hear nor see. The 2 new council members are younger but they don't have time to hear or see.

So, where do we go from here?

I say go around them. Rewrite the ordinances, make it Attractive for businesses to move into downtown which will stimulate positive growth, and for the love of god, please put bike and walking appropriate sidewalks down Waco St, all the way up Russell, down, Eireka, and link it al, together with the already in place walking bike trail starting at the police station. Clear the woods out, clean up Soilders Spring Park, don't spend a bunch of dang money with A1 Concrete and put those young men that already work for the city to work. If we do not have a director who can manage staff to work on projects without hiring outside consultants or contractors then those directors need replaced.

There is no reason to recreate the wheel here. Take the model from McKinney or another small city which has done a good Job and not only moved low paying jobs into their cities, which increases crime and poverty, and DO THAT. IT IS THAT SIMPLE!

All I got from last nights meeting was a promotion by the Weatherford City Council so they can say the people want to to build Sec 8 apartments in the area jsut east what is going to be Heritage Park. Economic development will be adding bars in the downtown area.
The street scapeing of trees and benches, city built pubic restrooms will be for the homeless and the low rent residents.

That's all you got because your demented mind would not believe God himself if he told you the sky was blue.
Name a bar going into the downtown area.
Please.
Answer the LIE

But you never said where you were there last night or not.
If you were what did you think about Rider Scott who is an attonery currently living in Austin and Dallas.
What how you answer this, understand I know Rider well. He has some issues with the Weatherford City Council for the was they treated he mother, Virgina Bratton Scott. He may be Mayor one day or better still he may come back to bite them in the rear by becoming City Attorney.

I know Rider and knew his mom and dad very well. Bought a lot of furniture from Virginia.
I was not there last night. Don't have a dog in that hunt. Was at the Wild Mushroom having dinner with my wife. I don't see him moving his family here just so he could run for Mayor. But that is his business.
You say you know the Scott family well?
Then why did you refer to his mother by the wrong name?
Her name was Virginia Cotton Scott. Bratton was a man who partnered with her dad around the turn of the century (1900) but was never a big part of the business.
You asked,
"What how you answer this," then don't ask a question.
What the what?

What the heck were you doing there!?
You don't own a downtown business. You barely keep the rent paid on your South Main trinket shop.
Why are you trying to stir up trouble for the downtown merchants. They certainly don't need your inane input.

RECALL ALL FIVE at the top!!!

Until we recall city council, which is a group of stagnant, unhealthy, inactive, narrow minded, old men over 60 who do not live a progressive, healthy, active lifestyle.....this city will continue to grow in a very unhealthy, inactive, stagnant manner.

We talked of changing ordinances and progressive tax incentives in small groups. What I did NOT see was any councilman engaging in the conversations. As long as those men are the ones in control of this city, don't look for real positive economic change.

My glimmer of HOPE is Rider Scott! He is Virginia Cotten-Scott's son. He is now involving himself in the city and I HOPE he will become our City Atty as Mr Zellers must be about ready to retire or perhaps run for Mayor. He is a Leader and we need Leadership here! He loves Wford and he told me is looking for land to build on to move back. He will be Mayor of Wford. He is young and he lives a healthy lifestyle. He told he does yoga every day and runs 10 miles 3X a week. He doen't eat red meat and he has promised to try to become a vegetarian. He does not use any product with HFCS. What a breath of fresh air he is!!! Not like the corrupt dying old men on city council.

Recall all 5:
I think you forget that the City Council is made up of young people as well as older more established folks. Mr. Robinson is only 49 and Ms. Wilder is only a year older. Mr. Swancy and Mayor Hooks are only in their early sixties and Mr. Hamilton rounds out the council as the older gentlemen with lots of common sense. I dont know where the idea of corrupt came from but it would be a fresh change if your comments could be backed up with fact. Your staements are not logical nor appear to be based in fact.

Your "glimmer of hope" should tear down or fix up those rent houses on S Elm and Church Street. If he had so much interest in this town, he would take care of his own business first!

You all are gonna find out who has been making money off all these "digging" projects. You will know why the roads are not completed but you have plenty of parks that the taxpayers of Wford voted AGAINST! You have a group of tired old unhealthy men on City Council who are living quite comfortably off their $50 a month. LOL. They really know how to stretch that $50. You wanna tell us how you afford to go traveling all over the world on that $50 a month and your smelly little music shop? How do you do that? And, how does old Waymon Hamilton afford to get his name on properties all over the place on his $50? No one will give him a job cause everybody knows he got fired from every job he ever had. But he has a real estate license and a daughter who works for a title company so just connect the dots. LOL. Maybe it is like Jesus feeding the multitude with the little fishies. Really stretching that $50 a month you two are.

T you bring up the lie about Waymon's daughter again. Don't you ever tire of making stuff up?
And yes, if you OWNED a business for 40 years and knew what you were doing, you might get to make trips too. But daddy's money will dry up someday and you'll be in line with the other bums.

Oh Boys! Called City Hall to ask about the City Attorney and his position relative to his tenure. Simply put the nice City Secretary said that the City Manager, Judge, and Attorney work for and answer to the City Council. Mr. Zeller's tenure looks to continue as does that of the Judge and City Manager. So with that information I don't see Mr. Scott becoming the City Attorney in this millennium.
