In honor of Veterans Day the Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter is offering FREE pets for Veterans with proof of service. Offer good until close of business on Saturday. Many to choose from. All will be vetted and spayed/neutered for free. Come find your new companion!
All other adoptions for the general public are a reduced rate of $40. Includes vetting and spay/neutering.
Parker County Pets Alive! Is offering vouchers to Veterans to get their current pets spayed/neutered and vaccinated at the upcoming low cost clinic on Novemeber 29th at the Cow Camp Cowboy Church in Weatherford. Email parkercountypetsalive@gmail.co m or go to: www.facebook.com/parkercountypetsalive to get the voucher.
Thank you for your service!!
What would you do if the animal dies undergoing surgery? Do you obtain a signed release? Do you provide after surgery pain meds? What do you do if the animal needs after surgery vet care? Do you just give them a voucher and wipe your hands of anything after that point?

More like notorious - Since your group is trying to force the shelter into keeping animals indefinitely caged and housed, I'm surprised PETA hasn't sought you out as an animal abuser. Oh well, it is early yet. If you were truly concerned about the animals you would only "adopt" the ones that had been there the longest time and not pick out animals that are deemed desirable for the general public. You should take the ones that have behavior problems, housetraining problems, health problems and all other issues. It appears as if your group only takes the ones that have the greatest chance of being adopted - that makes your group look better I suppose - and then there is the extra money you receive from your adoptions. By your very actions you have proven you are not a serious animal welfare group.

Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP) is the organization who provides the veterinary care. Their clinics have the ability to be mobile (like the ones we provide monthly.) They use their own paperwork. The TCAP website is: www.texasforthem.org . You will learn about them there. They do offer post-op pain meds and cones (optional). They give after care instructions and give emergency instructions to the owners. Our next clinic is on the 29th. I would welcome you to come and see what it's all about. I will be there pretty late this month. If you come between 2-4pm I would be happy to meet you and if the veterinarian isn't in surgery- I'd be happy to introduce you to Dr. Miller personally. The TCAP staff has been delightful and very helpful in the months we have been doing this. They can answer any procedure questions you have. We (PCPA is simply the host of these clinics.)
In other words, you offer no help beyond giving the people a voucher. Any complications that may arise are the responsibility of the pet owner. That is a gift horse I would certainly look in the mouth.

Ignorance! You have no idea the dogs we have taken in or the issues (health, behavioral, or otherwise). We FIX the problems so our dogs don't have the issues when they are ready to be adopted out. I would love to show you a picture of "Faith" who has ringworms so bad she looked like a spotted dog! She's recovering in foster care and getting the treatment she needs. Navajo was a distemper survivor and has just been adopted into a life that will make him a rodeo super star! We have several professional dog trainers that help us, help adopters, and help private citizens with training and behavioral issues. You have no clue what you rattle off about PCPA. Absolutely no clue at all.
Well now, that's two dogs out of how many? The clues are all over your posts here and other places. You love to pat yourself on the back, bragging about what "you" do. None of this will erase the damage you have done to the shelter and continue to do. With everyone of your ugly signs that are posted around you are damaging the shelter and the city. You are so dense you have no idea of the true damage you have done. I have no need to meet you, nor any desire to meet you. People who truly do good works, never brag, never advertise, and never destroy to get what they want. They go about quietly with their good works. Something your group knows nothing about.

OMG!!! I can not believe you are attacking PCPA!!!! Sounds to me you have nothing better to do. If you seriously wanted to help you would show your face!!! How do you figure there is s profit? I know for s fact this group of people are constantly digging in there own pockets to provide care and food.why would you dare attack someone for doing good? PCPA had in no way harmed the shelter but actually helped by adopting to make room for others so they won't be euthanized. And trying hard to help promote adoption events for the shelter.

This is where I just have to chime in... We don't take dogs that have issues? We only take desirable dogs huh? PERSONALLY, I have had Boy (fence jumper who no one wanted because he was impossible to keep in a yard.) Ariel (cowardly, had a bladder the size of a basketball, so big that we all thought she was pregnant, which I PERSONALLY paid to have her bladder drained in order to spay her.) Bella (cowardly, deemed aggressive and un-adoptable.) Mystique (fence jumper, cowardly, many health issues.) Cypher (distemper.) Storm (distemper.) Jello (fence jumper, deemed aggressive.) Raider (owner surrender for behavioral issues.) Bandit (pet aggressive, deemed unadoptable.) Bailey (23 puppies, heartworms, pyometra, human aggressive.)
Those are just what I can think of RIGHT OFF HAND! All of which I put my own money and time into. None of which were adoptable according to the shelter, all besides 2 of the above were adopted. One lost a battle with distemper, and the other was euthanized after she was deemed un-saveable by the best vet around. I have VERY RARELY ever had a foster that was cute or "highly adoptable." And yet I have never had a dog that I couldn't work with and place in a wonderful home. So where you get off thinking that all we take are "highly adoptable" dogs is beyond me.

If you don't like what PCPA is doing, IGNORE it! Why you two insist on running your mouths about things you are ignorant to is beyond me.-.-

I see.
PCPA doesn't care if the adopters are responsible pet owners or not.
PCPA doesn't care what happens to the animals after they're adopted.
PCPA is nothing more than a feelgood organization that pretends to have the best interests of the animals at heart, when actually the members fails to think beyond what happens after they have satisfied their need to feel good about themselves.
Right?
Why don't you put all that nasty effort into something positive and help SOLVE the "dog pound" problems instead of criticizing. WOW, you'd get tons accomplished. Obviously, you don't understand the entire picture of animal control!!

Cursing - tsk, tsk. You must be one of the "new members" if you do not know the history of this group. As I said before, any good this group does will never outweigh the bad done to the shelter and the city.

That is exactly what the reform group is concerned about!!(Reform group is separate from PCPA).
The reform group blocked the attempt by WPCAS to build an avairy for birds the shelter would not adopt out. The avairy was supposed to cost around $8k!!!
The reform group brought to surface the unnecessary killing of healthy, fully vetted, tax payer billed, animals. This truly was beyond just the killing. It was also to hold them accountable to their taxpayers!! Those vaccines and surgeries cost the public, plus the disposal of the bodies.
For someone who is so concerned about your tax money-- you sure are being blind.
How can the reform group and your pet group be separate when both are run by the same people? Oh my - you are still proud of trashing those poor birds. And here you are back to those "puppies" and all the nasty things you did to the shelter - see, the good will never outweigh the bad.

Clearly this blog doesn't reach a quality or target audience. The "bloggers" here that are quick to reply are merely computer critics. It is obvious they don't even like animals. They certainly aren't going to spread the word about any promotions from the shelter or anywhere else. It's sad, and obvious that Mrs. Smith and Obama12 just want to ruffle feathers here and hide behind computer screen names. And that's ok. That's all they have to offer society. Their 2 cents. Worth not even 1 cent.
To the others here who seem to really care and want make a difference: Maybe there is a place where these promotions can get out into the public eye better to get people to the shelter to adopt.
Maybe focus on those avenues: newspapers? radio ads? local magazines? businesses to hold or promote events? or brainstorm other ideas to pass on these promotions.

My rescues have come from both the Mineral Wells and the Weatherford shelter. I am a tax payer of both counties. Obviously you know far less than you believe yourself to.

It's all quite simple. Don't like how things are being done? Change it.
If you don't care to try to change things? Keep your mouth shut.
PCPA is trying to change the things we don't like.

If you two spent half as much time you spend bitching, doing something positive, you'd be amazed at how much you got done.

As I have stated before as long as your group is posting on this forum I will never go away and I will never "keep my mouth shut".

Things PCPA does not like:
Any animal at the shelter except for dogs. Get rid of cows, horses, goats, chickens, cats, birds, pet rats, gerbils, etc.

People who do not agree with their terriorist tactics.

People who do not believe in the destruction of other people just for their own purposes.

There are many others however I will not stress your limited attention span.

My dear, they have been brainstorming for months and haven't come up with a good suggestion as yet. And your statement above: "seem to care" is accruate - this group isn't going to spend any money on advertising - they want everyone else to foot the cost.

The birds were a huge attraction - people came to the shelter just to see and talk to the birds, but you ruined that. Now the cost - I guess you would like the city to get rid of all city parks, after all they cost money to build and upkeep. Gee, the parks must cost thousands and thousands to maintain- never mind the people who enjoy the parks. Your actions are those of a selfish person.

I see you continue to use the phase "healthy and fully vetted". This is not the truth and you know it - but being honest does not suit your purpose does it? You are not concerned about our tax money, afterall, it's not your tax money, since you do not live in this county.

Which are you? DD, DT, JW??? You were the only ones who tried to keep the birds at the shelter. Other employees were thrilled when they went to their rightful home. The lobby of a shelter is not the place for dozens of birds that are not allowed to be adopted out to the public.
Ah, just your opinion not the general opinion of the public who visited the shelter. Who are you to say what should be in the lobby of the shelter? Just a dog fanatic who hates all other animals and fowl. Dozens? Another untruth - everyone has come to expect that from you.

I know, logic is not your strong suit. Instead of asking the person if he uses a certain anonymous TOPIX ID, you, genius, decide to ask the anonymous TOPIX ID which person he is.
Brilliant, just brilliant!
Then again, it does save you from taking the risk of a laugh in your face.

Why is she concerned about saving money? She doesn't pay any taxes on gifts from mummy and daddy. Doesn't own a house anymore - didn't pay taxes when she did own a house.
