Why do I have to pay? I pay gas taxes to support the roads every time I fill up. Why do we accept this without protest? If we want to raise money, how about a tax on the premium pay and pensions public employees earnover their private employer counterparts?

No Mike toll roads are a bad idea.... they are a scam.... Did you forget the libs just passed a gas tax increase to pay for roads? On top of all the other tax money already in place designated for the highway system. Then we pay 12 guys $28. an hour to lean on a shovel or sit in a truck while two guys scoop asphalt.
If we taught people how to drive, slower traffic to the right, we would not have all the traffic problems that we have now. Just watch, some people get on the freeway and are hell bent on heading to the left lane and staying there until they quickly have to cross three lanes of traffic to not miss their exit. Truck drivers are now also driving in the left lane! You NEVER used to see that. Cops need to write tickets for it, yes there is a MN law against it. That would cure our congestion problem and we could keep our wallets in our pockets. Chicago is full of toll roads, their commute is a nightmare! All it did was take money out of the pockets of the people.
The gas tax didn't increase revenue because people are driving less. And yes, there are a few people who sit in the left lane, but far too many people think the left lane is their "personal" lane to get where they're going as fast as they want. It has no speed limit. Wrong! It's a passing lane. Sometimes there is so much traffic that there is no room in any lane. It's not your "personal" lane and it's not the answer to traffic problems. The answer is leaving earlier and learning patience. The traffic in the twin cities will never get smaller and there really isn't many ways to speed it up anymore. If you can't handle that, move to another town.

Excuse me???? Like you build a road and you're done paying for it? What country do you live in? Roads constantly have to be maintained. You must be from the famous party of "don't tax me for anything." If you don't like it, stay home.

I CAN imagine paying a toll(TAX) without rolling down my window, when it come to taxes our state will figure out a way to suck money out of our pockets. What I can not imagion is why we have to pay rolls on roads we paid for out of our pockets and maintain with our tax dollars....we paid to construct the road, we pay to maintain the road, noew we pay to drive on the road??? triple taxation!!
Stay home or drive on another road. You pay to use the road. You don't OWN the road.

No wonder people gave you a nuts rating. You're a right wing, greedy nutcase who wants to hold back your dues to society and live a life of white flight in the suburbs. Freak.
Taxpayer is right. Chicago is one of the most corrupt cities in the USA. Mob rule, pun intended. Kind of like us holding up Portland as an example of all that is right in urban planning. I just saw the show that exposed it's sex trade... a city for sure I would love to live in.

Nothing wrong with white flight to the suburbs. Our biggest issue is to control our city council from spending too much on city parks.

The toll should be on heavy trucks. That is what is killing the freeway road beds. You can drive for decades on concrete freeways in cars, look at the truck restricted part of 35e, that thing looks almost new.

Then look at 94 in St. Paul before the layer of tar was put on, which will last about two years before it is destroyed.
Trucks, they gotta pay. Our taxes go straight to the truck companies. Tolls are for suckers.

Hey sucker...if the trucks pay all the tolls, guess who pays for that. You...you buy the products they deliver, and they just add it into the cost of what you pay. Not so smart, are you?

Lets put the money into roads and highways not lightrail.

Lightrail is a train from nowhere to nowhere that no one rides and costs billions. I mean less then 1% of the commuters use rail but yet that is where liberal politicians like RT Bonebrain put our tax dollars.

Tolls are the pits, we need priorities in our tax dollars

Car Pool?

What if no one lives near me and works near me and works the same hours I do? Like 99 percent of us? How can we car pool? What a stupid and moronic comment to make.

The money isn't used for roads. They have plenty of money from the gas tax. That was the toll, the more you drive, the more tax you pay. We did not need this...politicians just wanted more of your money.

How can people be so clueless as to be unaware that they are getting it up behind?

You don't spend billions on resurfacing the rail lines every three years and building more and wider rail lines. You get out of your car and ride with everyone else. I know that's scary, because you can't pass the little old lady sitting across the aisle from you, but it's far more cost efficient. Maybe you can pass her on the sidewalk on your way to your destination. That's safer anyway, you're both walking, and you don't have to try to cut her off or honk your horn at her, or give her the finger.

This is just wrong.

Instead of building more lanes for the folks rich enough that they can buy their own speedy lane, we should be closing down lanes except to mass transit. If people are forced to ride the bus, then they will see that it can be a very pleasant experience.

Fewer cars on the road means less damage to Our Mother, the Earth. That is good for all of us.

Just because you were stripped of your driving privileges at a mental competency hearing doesnt mean everyone else should be. Hell, I'd be shocked if they allow you to walk and eat by yourself.

The point of these toll lanes is to give people a chance to pay to use them if they can't car pool. It reduces congestion on the non-HOV lanes by allowing those who want to use the HOV lane but can't car pool. You have the reading comprehension of a 3 year old.
