Seems to me that the government should allow the defendant access to his funds to pay for his defense. Assumption of innocence, etc.

1 That's the rub, eh? Right now, the funds are being held as evidence. They may be his rightly, or they may be his ill gotten gains. That's what the whole trial is about. While I do grant him the presumption of innocence, if the funds are ill gotten, it is the height of chuzpah to ask those he defrauded to pay for his defense. If he has no money to pay the lawyers, he should use a public defender. Others in that situation do. |
