Did you know ...The OEA members are some of the worst people I have ever had to deal with as to radical social behavior. They have the destruction of America in their minds and they are terrible people because their ideology makes them corrosive. They openly use children to execute their maniacal plans for social progressive changes at the expense of society, and this defines their essence. Wars are won by taking away from the other side the will to continue fighting. This is what the OEA does to people. Stand up to OEA bullies.

Still not sure what all this has to do with your statement that 20% for Dayton children would be "sterling." Please just answer the question. WHY WOULD IT BE "STERLING" FOR DAYTON CHILDREN?

I wouldn;t exactly call that an outing, Mr. Wiedeman doesn't seem to be afraid to put his name behind his thoughts. Boro must have gone to one of his google docs page links showing the booster accounts balances and the negotiation documents. Pretty impressive detiective work. Care to comment on what he has to say other than calling him a racist?

Going to the board meeting tonight I hear concern about levies and money that the district needs. We speak about the need for more teachers. I suggest perhaps we stop giving money due to us away. Thus far this year I have witnessed $90,000 donated to the Springboro Youth Basketball,$233,000 in uncollected school fees,$55,000 or so per year taken by the boosters from athletic funding (the amount was most likely double that as no cash was figured into the equation. I mean a guy who has the kahones to write blatant checks to himself is probably not going to worry about taking uncounted cash)

How much stuff would an extra $400,000 per year buy? That would pay for 7 new teachers at the Junior high specializing in math, science, and english.

Or $400,000 would pay for the $95,000 the tech department needs to implement their 21st Century Classroom plus have enough to provide 600 more Chrome Books (laptops for kids)

Or $400,000 would pay for the new women's locker room, the refurbishment of the weight room for the girls, tiling the girls softball field, put a nice downpayment towards the Careflight field turf, redo the track surface, replace the pole vault and high jump pits.

The idea that we go back to the past where we up charged those who were fool enough to pay an additional 25% to get some more money is a certifiable nonstarter.

There is plenty of money in the budget to do most of the things that NEED to be done to enhance our children's learning and experience if we just get serious about husbanding our resources.

Any ideas on how to collect the student fees? this makes me angry as a parent who pays my debts!

Send out a list just like the cities do to every household in the district listing who has paid and who has not.

I bet the once people see their name listed and they forgot or neglected to take care of this, peer pressure, embarrassment, or all of the above would get the cash flowing.

Here's a few great ideas!

First thing, send a letter to Mr. Petrey and tell him to stop promoting in public meetings that Springboro is a wealthy community. Tell Mr. Petrey to stop whining in public meetings that he has to "find out what level of service that parents want from already over-burdened local taxpayers and school district voters."
School district voters have sent a clear message to Mr. Petrey that we will fund a quality education for Springboro students, while living within our financial means; and tell Mr. Petrey that his job is to work within the people's "will."

Tell Mr. Petrey to stop promoting Social Justice for Teachers Rights and his current Vote for Revenge "surveys" being conducted by our high school students" (as was projected to the community at last night's public meeting.)

Send a letter to school board member, Mrs. Kuhl, and tell her Thanks for bringing attention at public meetings that everybody in Springboro is not rich; and that parents in this school district owe Springboro taxpayers $225,000.

Send a letter to our school treasurer, Mrs. Jarvis, and tell Mrs. Jarvis to do her job of collecting these fees from parents (who are delinquent in their duties of supporting the education of their own children). Remind Mrs. Jarvis that our existing Board Policy 6152 is in place, and that she is to perform her duties without whining to our "over-worked and under-paid board members" that she needs to be be "told" what to do so that she doesn't have to "take the heat" from parents.

How about an education that the taxpayers fund, not necessarily one the children find the most fun.

Electives at the Junior High School have not raised the math scores that show 54% of the kids scoring below 63% on the OAA math test in 2012, 2011, 2010, etc, etc.

If you think this year will be any better, of the 7th graders last year, 54% scored below 63% on the OAA 7th grade math test.

Maybe a little less time in fun electives and a little more in the basics would pay dividends. The shortening of the hours of study in the face of results like these must cause one to pause and ponder what were they thinking. Instead of refocusing our attention to a glaring problem area, the union agreed to teach more shorter classes.

The result shortchanges our children who obviously need the instruction, by 18 hours over the course of the year. With just a 6 minute increase in class time from 42 minutes to 48 minutes we would have seen 4.5 weeks worth of extra instruction in a course that we tests results show we are doing poorly.

As Ms. Vincent explained last night, redeploying resources to where they were most needed made sense.
I propose we redeploy some teaching FTE's from the fun electives to the core course of study until we are able to see our children actually make the progress we expect in Math, Science, and English.

We do not have a bad teacher problem, nor a bad student problem, what we do seem to have is a proper resource allocation problem.

If you wonder how the union will be handling these topics in negotiations, here is a primer from our good friends in Strongville who are currently negotiating with the OEA.

http://e2.ma/message/c1dmd/4im6xf

A glimpse into the future?

It would seem to be if the frivolous proposals the OEA is offering Springboro are any indication.

A degree of adult like seriousness needs to be taking place within the leadership of the union. Only they know their community, not the state wannabes who flit in and flit out. Those flitters still get their $140,000 whether our teachers are collecting strike pay or not.

It is a wealthy community. You people need to start shopping at Kroger and drive cheaper cars. Duh.

As good neighbors and responsible citizens, our family shops at Wal-Mart, because that's where we get "the most bang for our buck" in good eats! On average, our family saves $10-$12 weekly at Wal-Mart over Kroger prices, while purchasing the same brand name foods and products.
Businesses that are free from forced union dues are free to offer products and services to customers, at a greater cost-savings than workplaces that allow forced union dues. Those union dues are Huge, and Taxpayers never get a break from the heravy burden of forced unionism, from which our state political system benefits so richly!
In our Springboro school district, the cost to taxpayers to employ our Social Worker is also a Huge expense! It is easy to see why Social Worker, who earns a whopping $60,000/yearly salary PLUS "who knows how much in compensation/benefits packages!"
For Sure, our Springboro Schools Social Worker IS wealthy!

Why don't you find out how many students graduate from HS or leave the district without their parents paying their fees. If it's more than 10 percent then we have a problem. How about we get the $939,000.00 that Kohls defaulted on with her bankruptcy. That should cover all school fees for at least five years.
