I wish I could have written a glowing review of our experience..but Dogwood Womens Health is a great place to go until you actually need help. The Midwives there are exceptional, but Dr Potter wouldn't know compassion or bedside manner if it bit her in the ... My Veterinarian shows his patients more respect and concern. i could never recommend this practice after what she has done to me. In fact, I would STRONGLY recommend that you look elsewhere for care.

I'm sure this was a one time experience, and sorry if it wasn't, but Potter has been my doctor for the past two years and I absolutely love her. I wouldn't let anybody else's hands near me. Sometimes knowledgable is better than nice, and she always makes sure that I leave the room knowing exactly what's going on and that all my questions are answered. Good luck next time!

I also had a horrible experience with Dr Potter and her office. I understand that doctors are busy and work very hard, but I waited for over an hour for my appt, when I saw dr Potter she was rude and flippant towards me. She prescribed medicine that gave me a rash and then left me without a further solution to my problem. I take my health very seriously and expect my doctor to at least fake compassion. I was made to feel that I was wrong in wanting to get a solution to my problem. I subsequently went to another OBGYN and was discomfort free in 2 days. Consider this a warning, to each his own, but this lady has no business practicing medicine with an attitude like that.

I am expecting my first baby, and therefore incredibly tentative and cautious when it comes to my prenatal care. Unlike these women, I have enjoyed my experience with Dr. Potter and Dogwood Women's Health. She is incredibly knowledgeable, and tends toward more natural pregnancy care. In addition, if I ask her a question about which she does not know the answer, she will tell me so and get back to me when she finds out. I did not find her cold, but professional instead. I was never personally offended and actually felt a connection with her, her midwives, and her office staff. Just like pregnancy, no patient is alike and considering the incredible experience I have had these past seven months, I wouldn't rule them out without seeing for yourself.

I just love Maggie and all the ladies at Dogwood Women's health. I had such a wonderful experience the whole 9 months I saw them. I would recommend them to anyone and plan to go to them the next time I am pregnant.

I had a hysterectomy this spring, and and thankful that I had Dr. Potter as my physician. I thought she was caring and compassionate, and had a sense of humor --- her staff was very friendly and helpful. The wait time was no more than other physicians I have been to, sometimes I got right in, sometimes there was a little delay --- in short, I'm recommending her to all my friends!

I believe that different viewpoints are important and this is a great forum. I unfortunatly have to fit into the category of not recommending Dr Potter. First of all, my experience with her was not positive. I am a very easy going individual and found her to be very curt and short with me. This is my first pregnancy and am very nervous. I felt rushed and that my time was not important to her. I saw the midwives and they were somewhat better, but I still did not feel like I was the priority. I left with a nagging feeling like I should see what my options are with other doctors in the community. I have since transferred my care and am very happy I did. I think the relationship you have with your doctor should be strong. I think any patient should look at all the options and interview any doctor. This is a special time for me and my husband I did not want a personality issue with my doctor destroy that.

I am 35 weeks pregnant and was approached by these women in Walmart......WALMART!! they gave me the third degree on why I should transfer my care to them, all the while I am totally embarrassed. I know I am in the mountains, but does that mean that ethics goes out the window. I have a hint for this practice- get a marketing company because billboards and trolling for pregnant women in walmart is not the way to get people to see you

I have had nothing but very POSITIVE experience with Dogwood. Cindy has been amazing. Unfortunately i had a delayed miscarriage a couple weeks ago and found out during ultrasound that my baby was no longer alive. I was alone at appointment and Cindy held my hand and hugged me through it all. Maggie also came in and hugged me and offered her condolences. In the following days she made me feel comfortable to call anytime day OR NIGHT with any questions....Dr. Potter performed my D&C and personally called me the day before to go over any questions i had and gave me number i could reach her at if i had anymore questions after hours. also Dr. Potter delivered my little girl in 2008 and did a wonderful job. i've had several questions and concerns during my recovery where i have needed some reassurance and sometimes because of my personality feel silly about calling...but everytime cindy has reassured me with the information i needed and reminded me to call with any questions and concerns day or night. I find these women much more compassionate and personal then any place else I have been. They actually know my name with out looking at my chart....and treat me like a person not just a patient.

Dr. Potter talks about patients in a negative way she does not follow up with patients like she should. She has been known to transfer patients when she doesn't want to "DEAL" with them anymore. To her it is all about how many patients she can see in a day not how she can help. Maggie and Cindy are great. If they had a different practice I would be a patient but as long as Dr. Potter is with them I will never go back.

I had an appointment last month and had a great experience with the front office staff and also the doctors nurse. However, after waiting almost an hour in the lobby, I had to wait another half hour in the room. The nurse was very apologetic but when the Dr. Potter came in (finally) she did not even acknowledge her tardiness as if my time did not matter. She may have spent alot of time with other patients but the time she spent with me was minimal. She may have been delayed by the fact that her children were there in the office as I could hear her scolding them from inside the room. From what I have seen, I would go back but to one of the other providers.Maybe I will have better luck as the midwives seem to get better reviews.

I have seen all of these women at a different office and am considering using them again, because they all have shown me great compasion in the past. If Dr. Potter had not have been my dr. before my pregnancy and labor may have been very different. She offered me all of the help she could and was the only dr. from the other practice to take the time to consider that I may have a problem.

I love Dr. Potter, Maggie and Cindy! Dr. Potter has always been very helpful and always listened to me and made sure all my questions were answered. I only had Cindy once or twice, but she was always compassionate and sweet. Maggie is amazing and delivered both of my children. I highly recommend them to anyone!

I had the pleasure of doing my Medical Assisting Clinicals at Dogwood and I just LOVE Dr.Potter, Maggie, and Cindy. These ladies do a very good job at seeing every patient in as timely manner as possible, considering that other circumstances do arise. I love these girls and the staff and wish I still lived in Sylva so they could have delieverd my baby lst November. Miss you guys!!!

I have always had a great experience with Dr. Potter. She is an awesome OBGYN and I would not go to anyone else. She is a great doctor and friend.
Good luck to all of you finding a better doctor than Dr. Potter, because you won't. Have a good day!

A close family member of mine just recently had a baby, and Dr. Potter was her OB/GYN. All throughout her pregnancy she kept telling me that she was having all sorts of problems with Dr. Potter. How she was being extremely rude and inconsiderate, and she was constantly having to wait for a long period of time for her appointments. During the latter half of the pregnancy my cousin started to develop a very high blood pressure, but Dr. Potter kept writing it off as normal. Finally it got to the point it was so bad she was admitted to the hospital because of it and really and truly should have been induced a lot sooner than she was. Post-labor she was still having problems with blood pressure and swelling, a week after giving birth my cousin was hospitalized and put into the ICU for preeclampsia. I want to know how on earth Dr Potter didn't catch that before she even had the baby because she was showing all the signs and symptoms. Dr Potter is a very incompetent, uncaring, unprofessional individual who needs to be stripped of her title as doctor. The midwives at Dogwood are fantastic but I suggest they move to another practice. When I have children, I refuse to go to Dogwood.

My first visit I waited 2.5 hrs to see someone. Front desk is rude, unprofessional and unorganized. Called for 48 hrs, left multiple messages with no return calls. When I swiched OB's a week ago they informed my new OB they had lost my entire chart. Had to start over with everything, and sort situation out with the insurance company. STAY AWAY!

After 7 years of dealing with doctors telling me my pain and discomfort were imagined and there was nothing wrong with me - Dr. Potter found the problem, explained my condition and options in detail and let me decide how I wanted to treat the issue.

She was kind and understanding, answered all my questions, addressed my concerns and put my mind at ease. She will be performing my surgery next week and I am confident in her abilities and trust her fully. My experience has been nothing but positive with Dr. Potter and all her staff.
