Does anyone else agree that Quin Theater is a terrible cinema? Who is the moron in charge of booking the movies that they show?

what are you talking about?? If you want to go spend $40 bucks for you and one other person to get a seat, and snacks at a larger city cinema...then go ahead. But my family goes to Quinn often and they often have movies on the same weekend they are released. It is affordable, comfortable, and the staff are friendly.

I totally disagree with you.

The seats at this theater are uncomfortable, the floor is nasty and sticky. We drive all the way to Cherokee to see movies, it's a few dollars more but well worth it.

The back of the building is covered with graffiti. Or at least it was a while back. Looked awful.

been goin there for years. They pretty good for a small theater. And only recently have they been forced to raise their prices. Go the help down Cherokee if you like, I like Quinn just fine. Oh and birch all u want one these stupid blog, but I would keep my mouth shut around sylva. Some of us take insults about our local friends and businesses personally.

Have you seen the neighborhood behind the theater? That's why the graffitti is such a problem, they cover it up and it's there again the next day, You don't see the back so why should it matter? The Quin is family owned and they like to keep their prices reasonably low, and I can guaran-damn-tee you that you won't find better hospitality at another theater. And last time I checked Cherokee never gets up to date movies as much as the Quin.

U r a f-ing idiot. My best friends grandpa owns it and he is the "moron" who books the movies. And the movies r cheap. There isn't enough property for him to get more theatres in there so u had better f-ing deal with it you idiot!

It doesn't sell papers to print good news or comments, but I personally like the Quin. I have never been behind it and don't plan on going back there? And by the way, what were you doing back there anyway?/ I don't understand your problem, man. If you don't like the Quin, go on over to Cherokee, Franklin , Waynesville or Asheville. The roads are open and free./ I went to Franklin to see "Phantom of the Opera," because I thought it might not show here. No theater can afford to show movies to an empty house, it the audience for it isn't there. The Quin is not there as a public service; like any business] it's there to pay sopmebody's rent, gas and groceries. Grow up, kid.

I would gladly pay a higher ticket price for a broader selection. Sylva merchants should be interested in having a better movie house. When we go to Asheville to see a movie we also go shopping and out to dinner. Locals are losing a lot more than just theatre admission.

Nice movie selection for the Thanksgiving weekend ... If you're 3 to 15 years old.
Muppets, Happy Feet, Arthurs Christmas and Twighlight. I'd hate to watch J. Edgar or something that might actually have some cultural or historical significance and that might win an Academy Award. But dont worry, they'll get some crap like Saw 2 in on time. Sux!!!

Consider the location and the population of our town. Consider the demographics. They have to book the most popular movies for the small population of Sylva. They are nice people who try very hard to give us a decent movie experience for a very reasonable price. They have even updated to all digitial. You can drive another 20 minutes to visit the Cherokee theater which is newer and nicer but only has two movies and usually about the same. Or you can drive 60 minutes to some of the nicest theaters in Asheville. No one forces you to go to the Quin. Those of us that do visit that theater frequently know what we are getting and appreciate the convienence. Try running a business in a small town sometime beofre you cast stones at those who have done it successfully. You might see matters in a completely different way.

I've only lived in the area since 2005 and I've seen many movies at Quin. I've seen movies all over the USA. I can tell you that very few towns of the size of Sylva have a theatre complex that is as nice as Quin. All things considered, they are doing the best that they can to bring in a variety of movies. The audience here does not attend the more artsy type of shows. I've been in the audience on a Friday night for an artsy show and had maybe 10 other people there while the other shows were packed. You can't expect a business to lose money. My experience there is that the staff is extremely friendly. The prices are reasonable and the movie-going experience is comparable to other movie theatres. Sorry, friend, but Quin rocks. I wish them many more successful years of movies for Jackson County. Thanks, Quin Family for your many fine years of service to your community. I appreciate what you are doing for us.

what does the back of teh building have to do with anything? Now if it were a drive-in and there was graffiti on the screen...now that would be a problem. I have been to Cherokee several times...and I am not bashing them, but they don't ever seem to be staffed enough. And why would you have a ticket booth if you aren't going to sell tickets there? There is always a long line to get snacks etc because people are having to purchase tickets there as well. Sure it's a nice place but prices and customer service go a long away, and Sylva has replaced their seating (several years back) so it's not the hard, to narrow straight back seats they used to be. They may not have the movie you want, but they still keep up with the times.

Seriously your stupid! I'm Sorry that you might want more but they do the best they can. even tho most of the movies are for ages 4-17 people older still go and watch them no one is forcing you to go there. i appreciate everything they've done even some of my friends work there so you have your personal opinion but i'd keep opinion away from FACT!

I have been to small town theaters that did not have running water in the bathrooms and I know I saw a rat in one. I have never seen that at Quinn and they have cleaned it up and expanded it a few years back. If one wants all movie choices and top of the line things, pack your bags and move to Atlanta we will not miss you.
