I'm in a damn wheelchair half the time now. I can walk, but with advanced degenerative joint disease, there is a price to be paid. Using the wheelchair lets me walk when I absolutely have to, by taking pressure off my destroyed knees. The VA says that they can do two total knee replacements, but the waiting times is years. The djd is in my wrists too, my right wrist is in a brace, it's getting harder to push the wheelchair. By using people like me as political pawns, the state is keeping me from medical help.

The VA is understaffed for what they have to do. But if it wasn't for them, I couldn't afford a wheelchair or braces.

Yes, the private insurance companies have all the say in the matter. My insurance policy was grandfathered in. In other words, if there was something that the ACA required that my policy hadn't previously included, it included it and I kept my same policy.
They didn't adjust their rates because they were scammers. They were taking people's money and not providing decent coverage. Don't you remember all those stories (before the ACA) where someone would get cancer, go to their insurance, assuming they were covered, & finding out, to their shock & horror that their medical bills were not being paid by their insurance company? There were stories like that all the time....because insurance companies were screwing over their clients. That can't happen anymore. Isn't that wonderful? I can't understand why every middle class or poor person in America isn't happy as hell about the ACA. They should be.
That's why the Republicans are bitching & moaning about it. Because when people finally figure out how great it is, guess who loses? THE GOP.
I think you can get covered under the ACA's federal site. Just because some Republican governors were stupid enough not to accept the federal funds to extend the Medicaid portion of the ACA for lower income families doesn't mean you can't sign up at the Federal website.
Go here....all the answers to your questions.
https://www.healthcare.gov/what-if-my-state-i...
If I were you I would go there and at least look it over and get your answers. Due to that extension the Right Wingers are whining about, if you've even STARTED the process before tomorrow's deadline you can still get it until the extension's deadline without paying a penalty.
I'm going to call.

I am not pitching for the killer or the victim. I am pitching for the rule of law. A jury heard the testimony and ruled that there was reasonable doubt that the killing was unjustified murder. The jury did not say it was justified , the jury did not say it was unjustified, just that there was reasonable doubt. Guilty beyond reasonable doubt is the metric for a conviction.
Holder's subsequent statements promising to try bringing federal charges against Zimmerman is even more evidence of his prejudice in this case and his desire to agitate the situation rather than introduce calm..

Those comments made by President Obama were made AFTER the verdict.
"Obama issued a written statement on Sunday, noting that the jury had spoken and urging calm and reflection. Despite some calls for him to speak about the case, the nation's first African-American president had made no further public comment until Friday."
I am trying to understand this concern for a guy who killed an innocent kid walking home from the store. Shouldn't your concern be about the VICTIM in this case, and not the killer? There was no confusion over the fact that Zimmerman was responsible for the death of Trayvon Martin. The only confusion lay in Florida's backwards gun laws that let people kill other people and walk away scot-free.

The ACA is not affordable for the very low income workers in states like NC where Medicaid was not expanded. That makes very low income persons ineligible for the premium subsidy. The republikan legislature did not expand Medicaid in order to make ACA painful as possible for as many people as possible. Their political games are more important TO THEM than the citizens they represent. Not only did they make lots of people ineligible for the premium subsidy but they also turned away thousands of jobs Medicaid expansion would have brought to the health care industry.

What is not affordable is things remaining like they were, before the ACA. I don't appreciate my insurance premiums going up to cover people who don't bother to get their own insurance. And that is what everyone who bought insurance was doing before the ACA.
If you have noticed, health care costs are already going down. I am not saying that it won't take awhile until the system works efficiently. However, health insurance ONLY for the rich or those lucky enough to have an employer who provided them with insurance was not working out very well in this country. Health care costs were going up like crazy under the old way.

People think VA hospital is good, but you can't go without setting up an appt. weeks in advance. You catch something, get sick, you can't just make an appt. and see a doctor, doesn't work that way. But, it's a lot better than nothing.

In US public schools they are teaching that 2+2=4, Pythagorean theorem , quadratic equations, linear equations, statistics, etc. My question for taxpayer is exactly how he figures those subjects teach and perpetuate communism.

Our schools are filled with sex education, political correctness, environmental extremism, global unity, diversity training (pro-gay indoctrination), and "higher-order thinking skills" boldly claiming that, in order to become a higher order thinker, one think the way we tell you or you will fail!
America's educational system began to decline with the introduction of socialism, given impetus by the increasing involvement of the federal government. Lenin said: "Communism is socialism in a hurry." Socialism, therefore, is Communism by gradualism rather than by revolution.
"Democratic socialism" became the battle cry for socializing the United States. The goal was to "permeate and penetrate," then control from within. The socialists' first target was education, and they attacked with deceitful language. There were no badges or socialist labels; followers described themselves as "liberal," "progressive," and even "moderate." Words were the weapon of choice. By changing the meanings of words, socialists concealed their true purpose.

This massive social engineering was carried out under the banners of "reform" and "social justice." They promote true democracy, humanitarianism, and, of course are "for the children." The buzzwords of socialism were and still are "social" and "democracy" ( social science, social studies and socialization of the child). John Dewey, known as "the father of modern education," was an avowed socialist and the co-author of the "Humanist Manifesto." The U.S. House Committee on Un-American Activities discovered that he belonged to 15 Marxist front organizations. Dewey taught the professors who trained America's teachers. Obsessed with "the group," he said, You can't make socialists out of individualists. Children who know how to think for themselves SPOIL THE HARMONY of the collective society, which is coming, where everyone is interdependent. In this way, the subject teaches the children to think like a Communist. Simply destroy their individuality, not to help others but to insure obedience. The 11% previously uninsured figure is a few months old. The same company's new figure is now 27%, but there is no reason to believe either one is right. All that is now available are guesstimates. We'll likely have a better idea of the actual numbers in the future.

I take anything Zimmerman says with a large grain of salt. If he hadn't been out that night nothing would have happened. Maybe some day, he'll get his.

Look out the commies are coming and they're taking over our schools. What year is this? 1960?
