Sadly, Waynesboro has a "history" of being quick to demolish many of its most historic structures - the original Grace Lutheran Church on Wayne Ave - across from the First Baptist Church, the old Fishburne Drug Store on Main St, one of the original Jackson-Wilson School buildings on Pine Ave. There were, at the time, attempts to save all these buildings but it seems the concerns always fell on deaf ears. While I understand that city officials are often hampered by budget realities and respect for private property, other communities like Staunton and Lexington have done far better jobs at saving these old structures.
