Is there a snowball's chance of any new judge being intelligent and honest, or would that rattle the status quo too much?

What poor writing , 2 mistakes in 1 st. paragraph ! Sad.[A pair of Shenandoah Valley judges is retiring at the end of December. The people vying to wear those robes faced a public hearing Tuesday night with a key endorsement on the line.] As I know many judges I hope these new ones do not go after fringe benefits !

It is a shame that at 70 years of age a judge is forced to retire. This ridiculousness is made only somewhat better by outstanding candidates vying for the two open positions for judge. The Valley is most fortunate to have this caliber of honorable contenders.

They are forced to retire, however, they can still act as substitute judges and many do.

At 70 years old I can think of a plethora of things I would want to do besides listening to lawyers ranting in a courtroom. Are they that broke?
