What about people who eat meat? Animals raised for food are put through some of the most horrendous, tormenting conditions, and are killed so that we can eat them. Egg laying hens fall through their wire cages and rot alive in manure pits. Baby piglets are slammed onto the ground by workers to be killed. Male baby chicks are ground up alive for feed. Chickens peck each other to death because they are too cramped. You could walk onto any intensive agriculture operation in this country and find dead animals or almost dead animals in dumpsters. I could go on forever; any type of animal agriculture will result in cruelty (yes even humanely, grass-fed). These atrocities are no different than the abuse in this article - in fact, they are much worse.

All for what? We don't need meat; there is a piling amount of research that concludes that it isn't beneficial for our health, the environment, or world hunger problems. So are we not all "animal abusers?" What is different between dogs and cats and cows and pigs? Nothing, not when it comes to how they should be treated. They shouldn't simply be treated "better" while we exploit them - they shouldn't be exploited at all.

Please, if you have any moral concern for animals, go vegan. It's easy and the right thing to do.

There is no excuse for this type of treatment. There are other things just as bad yes and worse.. but that's not the subject here. To own a companion animal means you are taking their entire life into your hands. You are responsible. How can you feed and water a dog every day and not see this? I just hope they don't have children!! No excuse! They should have to stand on Main with a sign showing the pictures of what they did to this animal!

yeah, animals feel no pain and have no feelings. I think the only ignorance is shown by your primitive mammalian brain. In other words, you are an animal.

You treat a dog like that, get 10-20 DAYS in jail, and you appeal?! Talk about lowlifes who don't take responsibility for their actions.
And look at the breed. Pit bull. You know the only reason they had a pit bull is because it's the "gangsta" to own a pit bull and treat like crap so you have a mean dog.

I agree 10 to 20 days in jail???? What kind of punishment is that for what they allowed to happen to this dog?

Regarding the cruel treatment of farm animals-battery chickens so eggs can be sold cheap, pigs, so bacon and ham are cheap-the Humane Society takes donations and has been successful in getting improved farm animal rights. Join HUS and help to improve the quality of life for animals nation wide. Oh yes-lets not forget puppy mills that provide those cute puppies in pet stores!!! Shun the individuals who abuse animals! They are the lowest of the low!!!

People like you are what make this world so awful ... people like you are the reason why there is such hate and evilness.. and violence . I feel so sad for you that you lack a heart and compassion. You will see when your time comes what happens to people like you on the other side.:(:(
