Someone questioned my post yesterday about the guy who moved here from FL and thought a local fire siren was part of a coordinated countywide tornado warning siren. I posted he had incorrect high expectations of Franklin County and how (in)efficiently our local government usually operates.

I sure hope he now also reads this excerpt, from this story LOL:

"He operates the coroner's office from his home in St. Thomas Township. A smaller cooler could have been set up in a closet at the county nursing home, but did not seem appropriate."

Now Conner will have something large enough to keep his lunch in.

What is the matter with you people? You obviously don't understand the first thing about the Coroner's job, but your green-eyed jealosy is unmistakeable. Since this body cooler will be placed at the funeral home, your comments about his having something big enough to store his lunch or his medicines show that you're clueless but posting personal attacks on the Coroner because you have nothing else to say. Read the article closer - it says that stretchers can be wheeled into the bottom 4 berths; another poster thinks that he could have just bought a "large freezer". I'm sure that if a member of that person's family passed away, he would be screaming bloody murder and claiming disrespect of the deceased if he just stuffed that memeber into a "large freezer".

Or haven't you people ever heard of respecting the dead?

The focus of the Casey Anthony trial for two days now has been the air in her car, the evidence of decomposition in her car, etc. If you've paid any attention to the news at all, you have to be aware of it. The hospital and the funeral homes paid for their coolers, they rightfully get first dibs on them. But you are suggesting that the Coroner should do without the equipment he needs and let grandma begin decomposing in the corner because he doesn't have a place to store her because everybody else's coolers (that he has been using for free) are full. Read the article - he's paying for it by charging an extra $1 for death certificates. As long as you or a family member doesn't die, you don't have to pay for it. I think he's been very cost conscious about this and that you all have nothing to complain about.

It's rather inconceivable to me that the coroner doesn't already have a body cooler. It seems like such a basic piece of equipment for the job.

But then again, his office is in his house. And that seems equally bass ackwards.

Isn't this 2011? Don't we have higher expectations of our public servants than this?

That tax credit for a home office can come in handy year after year.

Take alook at the Franklin County Row Offices of the Court House and see what the budgets are you will see that the Commissioners do not give the Coroners Office enough money to properly operate a professional Office. They force Conner into acting like a pulper, beg borrow and steal. It is time for the County to pay for it's service and not force others to bear the burden and expense of running this Office. How about instead of talking abot building a new court house, how about talking about a justice center including a new Coroners Office.

Why Geisel.......... thats not fair play folks... It's sending the wrong message as who to choose when this service is needed. It should be in a county installation and the commissioner's should step up and take care of our affairs........ remember we elect these people to run our county and shame on them for THERE oversite.....VOTE. One other note at 1 dollar per recording its very surprising that this county receives 10,500 to 12,000 per year in money for this. Something's wrong here because if thats true its double shame on the commissioner's for there failure to render a solution to this county problem. VOTE..

The article doesn't say it, but I'm assuming they figure at $1 a death certificate, it will be paid for by the time it needs to be replaced. When I worked at Fort Detrick, we contracted to build a facility that had several -80 degree freezers; they moved a facility that was off base and had similar freezers that were more than 20 years old. If the -80 degree freezers can last 20 years, hopefully body coolers that don't get nearly as cold will last equally as long.

To the coroner, Congratulations, its about time someone helps you out. Do these people really know what they are talking about??? Or even what your job contails. NOT!! Just to let you know its about time.
To Geisel, THANK YOU, you are giving a busy man a central location for body storage.
To all that understand, THANK YOU!

Maybe it is time for someone take over the coroner business, this should not be in his home. Maybe we need to look to have a CSI for this area.

Why not Geisel? Oversight? What oversight? What county installation? The county commissioners sure as H*&L are not gonna spend money to revamp an installation for a cooler, because most wingnuts in this county are looking to lynch them whenever they spend a dime.

Why do Republicans keep voting this guy into office? Please, stop. A real leader would have demanded the appropriate supplies a long time ago!

Like so many other things in life, I'd always assumed our county would have had a cooler. Isn't it necessary to this job? Of course! It is a subject I never had to deal with, nor thought about. Some day I might; one never knows. Am wondering just what else doesn't this county have that we might need? Is there a working emergency plan in place for unexpected happenings? What it is? Etc.

To bash the present coroner is not helping anything.(Don't know him.) It is THE OFFICE of THE CORONER, literally and figuratively, we ought to be thinking about and also ought to be feeling ashamed that this is even an issue!

Why does this guy have to scrape for a needed public item? Why doesn't the position MERIT a REAL office in some county building? This matter needs further explanation (to this dummy, anyway). How many people would want to do this from a home? If anything, I admire someone who does so! To those who mention tax stuff, so what?!?! What else can is our coroner to do?
