Well now a typical Corporate Fascist Republican Ploy by Rock and his friends in the worst state legislature in the country. Isn't striking a part of Democracy? Perhaps Rock should worry about Pennsylvania being the pollution capital of the country and stay out of labor disputes which he knows little about. Under the Fascist Leadership of Tom " I got my money from the polluters and oil industry" Corbett this is just another example of the Corporate Take Over of America. Rock should be more concerned about the total dismantling of the educational system in Waynesboro by the Morons on the School Board versus whether he believes he can control people who have a Right to Strike or not.
This area has always been anti union and that's why the wage scale and the benefits are so bad here (yet the cost of living and housing is astronomical compared to places in Western PA that have higher wages and benefits and yet better economies and lower housing prices). Franklin County residents are typically raked over the coals by their "so called Republican Politicians" but never figure it out. This area is controlled by some of the most unscrupulous politicians, business types and Realtors to say the least and this is what they are worried about...teacher strikes their communities die. I hope you didn't waste too many brain cells on this one Rock because you won't have any left for the rest of your corporate agenda.

Guess who just lost the votes of every teacher and member of a teacher's family, in the next election!

Proud of you Todd. You've got a pair of balls to take a stand against the strongest union in the world.

Stand your ground!

The teacher vote is insignificant. I just wonder about this cheap banter from Rock again and again. Hasn't he introduced this legislation before? Where are the teacher strikes here in Franklin County? Waynesboro goes on and on getting nowhere. In a different economy it might have seen a strike. Same with Chambersburg. Mr. Rock, do something that matters; enough of your smoke, mirrors, and scare tactics.

How dumb do these two think the people of Franklin County are? What Koch Brothers entity wrote this bill for Rep. Metcalfe, American Legislative Exchange Council or is this the behind the scenes work of CATO or Heritage or Americans for Prosperity. This is just Scott Walker's union busting with camoflage and it has virtually nothing to do with education or children. Rock is engaged in the political version of using children for a protective shield. Teachers can't strike without giving thirty days notice but if school boards and administrators treated their workers fairly and negotiations were equitable their would be no strikes ever. Most teachers strikes are not about wages anyway they are usually about classroom conditions because most all of the teachers I have known were more concerned about their students education than these two grandstanders are. Having a say in the conditions of your workplace and the value of your labor is democracy we fought a revolution for it.

Well, let's see here - we need serious road improvements (look at the people killed each year on route 16), easier tax reporting to stimulate small business, a state medical insurance program (as mandated by Federal Law), more jobs for this area, new legislation to tax the shale drillers, etc. etc. And what is this CLOWN spending time on in Harrisburg? Attacking teachers! I sure wish we had some people with real brains and character to run against these bozos next election.

Why does this occupy his every thought? Did Waynesboro strike? Did Chambersburg strike? With all of the other issues we face he thinks this is a major problem. How about introducing legislation like the Florida governor is pushing that requires welfare recipients to submit to random drug tests. How about getting rid of the free ride Corbett is giving to the Marcellus Shale oil companies. This guy is a joke. He loves the camera.

The right of self-defense goes all the way back to the 12th century in England with the Assis of Arms. A fundamental right in a democracy is a right to say in workplace safety and the value of your labor.

If workers could depend on their supervisors or managers to treat them and pay them fairly there would be no need for unions or strikes. The problem is that doesn't happen.

My question is why are we punishing workers for the negligent and unfair acts of their bosses?

The right to strike is the right of self defense.

I believe the only accomplishment of Mr. Rock is the lighted advertising on pizza delivery vehicles. Thanks Mr. Rock for all you do!

If only I thought Mr. Rock was sincere about this legislation. When he was an instructor at the Franklin County Vo-Tech he rode the wave of the efforts of the Education Associations in the county and took the raises that they made the sacrifices for. He rants and raves about doing something with the legislature but still accepts that big salary. He is the epitome of a hypocrit. I reluctantly voted for him the first time he won but now really regret it. He'll never get my vote again.
