Well maybe maybe "most people" should unionize...Stop beating up on teachers who are asking for a mere 2 to 4% raise year over year...If you want throw stones at someone, choose the gas companies...They just raised prices 25% in one month...
Maybe the laws should be changed allowing districts and their taxpayers to choose whether they want to negotiate with collective bargaining? Teachers have every right to create a union. School districts should have every right not to negotiate with the union and hire teachers on an individual basis.

People want to compare Waynesboro & Greencastle... Maybe they should look at the history of how the teachers have been treated by the board. This article would be a start:

If anyone has acted like a thug it's been Lee Lemley, and the Boys he gets elected from the North Area. If you've tried to work with someone in the past and they have acted in this manor, why would you make the effort and get treated like this again?

So basically ban teachers from unionizing???? Wow!!!! And then what???????? Pay them less and ask them to do more??? Please become a volunteer at a school. You do not understand what these people go through. They should be paid more.

Yeah, we've seen it in WASD....$60m 'teachers' sit on their thrones; $25m part time assistants work face to face with the students; and 'VOLUNTEER parents/grandparents' do the grunt work of maintaining order and civility, while running errands all over the place as the 'teachers' rule!

Most people have not seen their income increase over the last three years, yet the teachers are not willing to accept the same?
Where else can you receive essentially life-long employment, medical benefits beyond most people's dreams, and a phenomenal retirement that exists nowhere in the private sector?
If WASD was in the top 10% of PA schools, maybe they would have a strong argument for more salary?
Lets make a deal. We'll go with your plan when you show me where the Board said, "You know what? The economy is good so we will pay you more".

The teachers have been trying to bargain in a reasonable manner. This is how negotiation is supposed to be conducted. The teachers are willing to give but the board only gives ultimatums. This is not negotiating. The board has constantly been rude and disrespectful to the teachers throughout the process. What has happened to manners and public decency in this town. If you read the article the teachers went out to caucus and came back and spoke with the board. The board went out to caucus and then left the building without telling the teachers. Is this the type of behavior we are to expect from elected officials?
and that is why I will be voting against the incumbents next week.
