<>According to Waynesboro Area Education Association President Jessica Bryan, the meeting lasted for 15 minutes. <>

I beleive the meeting was cut short as Councilman Newcomer and his club of Avengers were feared to present. Once they heard the thunder of bikes outside, the meeting was adjorned and everyone scattered like frightened ants.

Reporting the way it should be done, the way you want to read it! Stay tuned.

Compare the tone of this with the Greencastle union's offer of pay freezes and other suggestions to help save other employee positions and courses/activities for the students. Absolutely amazing!

So if I read into Jessica's statement, she is not worried about the cuts made in teh last 2 weeks, she is worried about her pocketbook that will be cut. Maybe the district should offer free night business classes to all teachers who need help with their fiances, then they will know what the resto of the country is faced with. NO PAY RAISES FOR ME IN 3 YEARS and STILL COUNTING. PAY MY OWN HEALTH INSURANCE ALSO. Get real or get lost. If you want to be a high paid teacher, go into the cities where there is a reason for the higher pay.
taxes, and a fear of teaching there but like the pay.

The Bryan dame has been the biggest thorn in negotiations since Day 1. A majority of the teachers were ready to settle this mess long ago,
but their union overseers have insisted on bullying the board and the taxpayers.

Bring on the bikers!

Thuggish teachers unions bullying, threatening, and harrassing school board members is standard practice for unions. Unions exist to expand the number of public sector workers, like teachers, and if they cannot grow the number they work hard to keep the status quo. They protect mediocre teachers and teachers who should not be teaching children at all.

And if the teacher's Union can afford to pay an army of lobbyists over 100,000 a year to butter up politicians, they can afford to pay ALL their member's health care themselves!!!

I think the Wboro Board is using the current anti-union emotions to make ridiculous offers. 40% of your workforce get nothing for 3 years. Yeah that sounds like union thugs, more like a board that is counting on people to blame the unions. If the board wanted to settle they would have sat at the negotiating table and said then let's spread the money out or let's work something else out. The union is not the bad guy here. People need to get that picture of some card carrying autoworker in Detroit making $75 an hour out of their heads. That is not what the teachers union is about

Teachers and their unions are modern day terrorists holding the community and its children hostage. Board members need to remember that we do not negotiate with terrorist organizations!

Most people have not seen their income increase over the last three years, yet the teachers are not willing to accept the same?

Where else can you receive essentially life-long employment, medical benefits beyond most people's dreams, and a phenomenal retirement that exists nowhere in the private sector?

If WASD was in the top 10% of PA schools, maybe they would have a strong argument for more salary?

I agree with Sal; throw the children to the wolves but give me my money. Yes , what a difference between Waynesboro's teachers union and Greencastle. They don't have a motor cycle gang member ruling their town council either. What has happen to the values of this small town of Waynesboro ?? Sad

Well maybe maybe "most people" should unionize...Stop beating up on teachers who are asking for a mere 2 to 4% raise year over year...If you want throw stones at someone, choose the gas companies...They just raised prices 25% in one month...

People asking for a modest raise are associated with terrorism. WOW!!! Teachers deserve much more than they get and they are underpaid.

That Bryan dame is one poor union leader. Waynesboro teachers should replace her with a tape recorder of Jimmy Hoffa soundbites. Now that was a union thug. Go NASCAR.

Is this ever a "one-sided" story. Did you all read the the Herald Mail? You get a whole different outlook of the meeting. This article only gives you Bryan's opinion. She does need replaced.

The teachers have been trying to bargain in a reasonable manner. This is how negotiation is supposed to be conducted. The teachers are willing to give but the board only gives ultimatums. This is not negotiating. The board has constantly been rude and disrespectful to the teachers throughout the process. What has happened to manners and public decency in this town. If you read the article the teachers went out to caucus and came back and spoke with the board. The board went out to caucus and then left the building without telling the teachers. Is this the type of behavior we are to expect from elected officials?

I agree completely, thank you for your voice of reason. It is nice to finally read something that is not hateful but thoughtful.
