Yep - we can just keep raising the taxes.

No need to redcue spending or enact other cost controls that other Districts have instituted.

Move along folks, nothing more to see here.

Geesh.

Bang for our buck, more BS from Ziobrowski, part time commissioner, full time appraiser. Huge conflict of interest.

What are you people complaining about? The fact that someone is bringing new industry into this area is grounds for complaining? I don't get it. Where do you think most of the school tax money comes from? It is businesses. Mike, good job and we are lucky to have you in Franklin County!!!!!!!!!

Amen to that.

So it was $8 million last year. And if Volvo were not expanding it would be $8 million this year.

If someone gave you a million dollars you'd bitch it wasn't a million and one! Please just keep your heads in the sand and leave the majority of people to do the thinking for you. The link from the business investment took us to the comment page for a different article. The first three are complaining about a school tax increase.

Again, the commissioners must be doing simething right as is Mr Ross.

Why change it?

I agree 100%, taxes in this area are a drop in the bucket compared to surrounding counties and yet the locals always have something to b**ch about. I can't stand living here and as soon as I'm able to I'm taking my productivity and money somewhere else.

Good question. The commissioners are taking credit for this? Let's try again: It was $8 million last year. This year it is $108 million of which Volvo is $100 million. So it is still just $8 million.

This is dumb. If you get a $100 million investment...it's a $100 million dollars. It's not like this is fake money. It's not like it won't create a huge economic impact. So what does it matter? One time or not, it's a good thing and may lead to more good things.

These are the kind of people that if they won $100 million lottery, they'd be complaining that taxes took 35%. So so so negative.

Aside from complaining about how much positive growth we have here, appreciate that we have positive growth. And likely when the growth does occur, you'll all be complaining that traffic is bad, or the price of houses have gone up, or farmland is being developed. There is just no pleasing some people.

Forget about the $100 million....go to many of the counties in Pennsylvania (Fulton County is one of them)and they would be partying in the streets JUST to have an $8 million investment.

In spite of most of the people who live here, this is a desirable place to locate a business, and lets hope that people like Mike Ross and the governments of Franklin County continue to keep it that way.

The unemployment rate may be low---but wonder what the percentage is of those folks who had unemployment benefits which have exhausted...and now have nothing. I know myself personally...is the case. Job openings are very few currently in our area--I KNOW!! Lucky to have a savings account to provide--but everything that goes out--nothing comes back in. It would be interesting to know the rate of Assistance/Welfare at the current time. I would bet that rate has increased to help those who've done with their unemployment checks.

Or will they be like WhiteTail and be EXEMPT FROM PAYING TAXES as a ploy to bring them to our area?

I see a sign at Forresters Lincoln Dealership for an auto tech. The sign has been up along Lincoln Way East for over a month. Either this job is "undesirable" or the long term slugs on unemployment are just to lazy to apply. If someone gets hungry enough, and we shut down the gravy train, these type of jobs will get filled. Don't cry on my shoulder if you haven't applied.

Just remember these are manufacturing jobs. Only a few of these jobs will be management. Therefore even tho there will be jobs created, keep in mind that they are not the $100,000 per year type. The average wage earner in this county are being squeezed by the never ending raise in taxes. Only the rich keep getting richer, they can afford the taxes and call this a great place to live and work.

Hey Dave thank you for the job opening lead at Forrester’s however they are looking for an experienced mechanic that meets their requirements without having to put expense into training. With this type of demeaning character you so proudly convey, I think I will pass and wait a few more days when your job becomes available!

I don't know where you are getting your information but you are wrong. With Volvo, for instance, the majority of the jobs will be white collar. And an average assembler will easily make 50k, which is more then enough to live on

Yes, sounds like you'd best move on, Bimbo. You sound too mature, elite, and anal retentive for our area.
