Why are the principals and teachers so worried about it? They weren't like that before!

Kids shouldn't be allowed to have any electronics at school. When I was in school we couldn't have any games or toys, or the teachers would take them. Cellphones or Ipods DEFINITELY should NOT be allowed. The kids already spend too much time on them and not doing their obligations at home, homework, or even listening to anything their parents say. Lord knows, they definitely do not listen to the teachers in class or otherwise, because of the cellphones being in their hands, having their attentions on music, facebook, myspace, or text messages.

Just saying, that was then, and this is now. Times are different.. A lot different. No, I don't believe they should have it in their hands 24/7 but I believe they should be able to check the time considering they don't have hardly any clocks, in the classrooms. I also believe if you aren't doing anything at the end of the period, you should be allowed to get on your phone. And especially at lunch, that's our free time and I believe that we should be able to have them out. You must be a friend of a teacher/teacher/or family of a teacher. And in my own opinion, I like listening to music. It calms me down. I still pay attention to the teacher but its nice to have the music on when you are self conscious that people talk about you. It blocks them and their dirty stares out... So, in some ways, I agree..

Then maybe you shouldn't have done things to make people talk about you or give you dirty stares? There are PLENTY of clocks in the school and you can always ask the teacher what time it is. Kids these days are so addicted to their phones that they don't know how to function without them. I agree that phones should be kept in lockers all day. Lunchtime is for interacting with your friends- not staring at your phone the whole time.

Maybe they didn't do anything to get stared at. People judge, it's hard. Maybe it's a disability or disfigurement. Don't assume it is something they did just sayin

If the students and parents would invest their time and money into something else they would be much better off! Most of the texting and talking is drama that only causes problems and cost mom and dad money, that many do not have!

Jerk, maybe I didn't do anything to get stared at. People are judgmental. Don't you know?! Gosh!

Cell phones, texting, FB, etc. is way out of hand these days. I know times have changed, but do people actually talk to one another anymore? My brother will be in one room & text his wife what he wants to drink. Should cell phones be allowed in schools (with all the shootings, etc.)? That question will be debated for years to come. My niece (11 yo) has a cell phone that she keeps in her bookbag & her teacher has been notified it is there & it is to stay there, unless an emergency would arise. My sister in law checks her bill daily to make sure no calls/texts were sent during school time. If there are, phone stays home.

Regardless of what you think about texting and stuff, the use of cell phones is against the rules. Period. It doesn't have to make sense to you, its the rules, so you follow them. There are alot of rules and laws I don't agree with, but you better believe I'm gonna follow just the same. This issue right here sheds a huge light on the entitlement issues this generation has. The sense of being above the law, and that they some how deserve or have earned the right to do what they want.

They need to let the students keep their phones. Who's gonna call the cops when some Columbine shlt goes down.

They don't care for the students having a cell phone, they care about them using them during class. Its distracting and can be used to cheat. Its also a safety concern because they could be used to orchestrate another Colubinesque attack. If a student has the phone in their pocket or bookbag, the administration would never know one was at school.

Although I agree that there should be restrictions on cell phones at school I must say with school shootings bomb threats & all the disasters happening in school It doesn't hurt to have a cell phone in ur pocket. No u couldn't have cell phones at school 20 years ago but you could go to school and feel safe. It isn't like that anymore. I have a child in school & u better believe she has a phone to call me if something happens. If it is brought to my attention that she isn't paying attention & her phone is a distraction I will handle it. Until then I feel 100% better knowing she can get ahold of me in case of an emergency
Maybe it is because some girl was on the cell in middle of her class during 1st period talking to her mom an chatting it up instead of getting an education

Honestly, if you want to stop the kids from being on their phones during school hours, then get the damn teacher's off theirs. Principles bit*h about cells & take them away, all the while JOE BRUMFIELD IS ON HIS!Nat Perry is another example. Too into her phone to give a damn what is being taught or going on in her class or any class she's covering!! It's not just students. Yes i did text some during my years at WHS. But it was not a constant thing. I knew when i needed to do my work. Sneak a text when class was slow or teachers were gossiping with students about other students. Take cells away from all teachers & maybe the kids will do the same. Seen a former class mate that started a petition to pass a law to ban teacher cell phone use between 8:00 & 3:08. GOOD FOR HER! Hope they pass it. Too many slackers, lazy kids, iphones, xbox, ps3 junkies to make a damn out of my age society. It's SICKENING!!!!!

Cell phones are used between teachers and administrators because it gives more privacy to the student involved. It allows needed communication to take place without having to say things aloud for the rest of the class to hear.
