I am a student at Wayne High School. I'm just saying, the High School would look great if they would quit giving all of the money to the football team. During the pep rally today I noticed that the cheerleaders uniforms looked brand new, what was wrong with the old ones? I like Wayne but they are waiting till the school crumbles down before they will do anything about it.

Probably a softball player bitching again. And the cheerleaders don't use the same money that the football team uses.

Softball players should "bitch" if that's what you want to call it. They won a state title with little to no help from anyone outside the team and parents, especially the athletic department.

They had very little support for maintenance of facilities. I've seen the players and coaches raking and lining the field before games. There is nothing wrong with that but other programs don't have to do this type work for themselves.

This group may very well win 2 more state championships but will get very little notice. I, for one, know what kind of work they put in, they deserve anything they get and more. Nope, I'm not a parent of a player, just a fan (that helps when possible).

People go to football games to watch football, same with basketball. No one attends these functions to watch the cheerleaders except their parents or boyfriends maybe. I doubt if anyone would even miss the cheerleaders. They haven't done anything in competion since when, the 80's? Don't expect that to change anytime soon. Like you mentioned they sell 50/50 tickets at football games. That's right, they get the opportunity to do fund raising at football games when there are 2-3000 people in attendance. That's tough!

The AD decides who gets to run fund raisers at the football games. Cheerleaders already have the 50/50 and I think the band sells programs. That used to be the case anyway. This has been the status quo for a long time. I don't think anyone would want every group/team at the school huddled around the gate at every football game trying to sell something. The softball team has been allowed a couple of opportunities in the past, but anyone and everyone can't set up shop at the football games. YOU are uninformed.
