Anyone else think these apartments are falling down, and need complete upgrading?

upgrading is and understatement the heaters, not working the electric not working properly, The water heater leaking. The maintence man don't fix anything. Lies on residents, yells at the woman there. Need I go on? I do recall there is lead base paint in these apartments. One apartment was actually insepected by health dept. "so they say" If you flirt with the manager you get special treatmeant if you have husbands expect eviction notices over ANYTHING!

Just for those curious, I am a renter in these apartments, and needless to say, ya'll hit the nail on the head. I moved in, at the end of September '12, with the manager giving me a list of repairs that needed done (i.e. kitchen faucet leaked, toilet seat needed replaced, bedroom door knobs needed replaced, refrigerator needed replaced, 2 living room windows and one bedroom window needed replaced, back corner of kitchen falling down - there is a HUGE crack under the door frame where the foundation has fallen and can see outside, much less kill bugs that crawl in all the time, the bathroom heater is about 4" off the wall, the water heater leaks every time you run water that you have to keep a bowl under to catch it and empty it about 4 times a day, the back screen door won't shut, the back door is hard to open and close and lock, the fridge leaks water out the back because it's unlevel meaning that you have to dip disgusting water out from the bottom under the crisper drawers, the freezer and the fridge both smell like rotten meat, and there are two water leaks under the bedroom in the back..the bathroom water when ran drips under the closet and when the kitchen water is ran you can hear it leaking under the wall between the kitchen and bedroom. So, my water runs about $90 a month because of this, and yes, all of this has been reported, and has not been mentioned by the manager or attempted to be repaired in the 4 months I have lived here.
So, yea, my opinion every thing you hear about this place and the person in charge, is more than likely true. I would check with people who actually live in these apartments before renting one, unless you are prepared to spend out money and replace things yourself.
Oh and, yes, I am moving. I am refusing to pay rent for February, only because I refuse to continue to live in an apartment that I can't get anything repaired.

I do not get hud, I am a paid renter and currently moving due to non-compliance issues, Discermantion. The "manager" picks and chooses whom he wants to accept hud from. When you complain to the "owner" you get screamed at threanted not to get anything fixed which you do not anyway. To anwser our question (where) No Prestera does not own these Apartments. There is 24 or 27 run down apartments. The understanding when moving in that the fixture's would be fixed with that being said nothing has been fixed. So I would recommend that if you're looking for a place to advoid Terrace apartments!

These are the apartments behind BP that go up the hill, I think 4 buildings total. But, not everyone gets HUD, and from what I understand, the ones who receive HUD can obviously get repairs done, but those who pay cash/check for rent, can't get anything done.

I'm with Wayne Resident, I'm moving due to non-compliance.$450 a month in rent, and have to live in a run down apartment where the windows either don't open, or they don't close all the way, to the point that the children that were sleeping in the bedroom with the window that didn't close all way, had to sleep in the living room because it was too cold to sleep in there, and didn't do any good to turn the heat on.

I just think that you all need to stop putting crap on here i can choose which hud i want to accept and dont repairs are made when requested so renter you did not ask for nothing to be done but bitch to the owner and make lies im glad your leaving

I made several requests for repairs to be made, with you saying "I'll be back next week" or "I'll be back in a few days", but never showed up except to get the rent. After 2 months of asking when or if you were going to fix anything, I stopped asking because it was apparent you weren't going to do anything.

And from what I understand, I'm not the only one that has complained to the owner about you. My opinion, if you went door to door of these apartments, you'd hear a lot of complaints about your abilities to run these apartments. That's one thing I heard from people who live here when I first moved in, saying that if I had the money, I may as well pay to repair things myself, because you never show up.

And FYI...it's NOT up to you which HUD vouchers you can accept and turn the others away for whatever reason. It's called discrimination, you can't take HUD for the majority of the tenants here, and turn one or two people away just because they complained on you for not doing your job. You charge people a deposit, and you never show up to do any work in the apartment after it's rented, but yet, you're like clockwork to collect the rent.

See again point proven; cussing at the tennants hmm some "manager" Well just for your records counter suits can be filed also for harrassment, discrimination etc. Need I go on? Manager's can not discriminate from tennant to tennat on whom's hud he will or will not accept.Renter's do have rights, So you can file evictions we can file counter claims. Plesae keep that in mind on the next person you think you can push around and call names, yell at you delight in yelling at the woman tennats, I do have a question tho; Do you like married woman or does that just excite you? meaning everyone does see you go to a certain tennats apartment is that what you call rent special's now days? Or is that just half off depending on the mood you're in for the said days in question? Repairs are only made to married tennats it does not matter which person a person goes too the repairs do not get done. So have fun finding tennants for these apartments

Also, considering I cleaned the apartment that you were supposed to come back and paint, even if you gave me $150 off the regular deposit price, and nothing got fixed, I am going to be asking the owner if I can get that $300 refunded.

All of this would have probably been avoided if you would have just kept your word, and done what you said you were going to do and not stood in my apartment issuing threats and showing your a$$, calling me and my sister liars because we threw the list of repairs back to you, and pointing out that you were supposed to come back and fix them.

And the issue with the refrigerator, which you tried calling my sister a liar about, has been an issue since the first week we moved in, and you've known all along it smelled like rotten meat from the previous tenant, and for you to stand there and say that the fridge has been in this apartment since you first started working for Brainard, which I'm guessing was around 1984/85, is a bit pathetic considering how many people have probably rented this apartment and moved out in that time.

You can turn him into housing for that...if it's HUD approved it's HUD approved not just who I want to approve...if anyone wants I can give u the number and contact info for the housing authority and I'm sure they would look into that

I live in these apartments and I have learned over the years, if I want something repaired I call the HUD office. They then call him to come fix it. If I don't go through them nothing gets fixed.
