It depends, If a PT jobs prevents you from looking for a perm. FT job, the PT job may cost you a good FT job and hurt you in the long run, a PT job at nite is fine since you'll still have all day to look for a FT job. The idea is to work and get on a payroll as you job hunt.

It'd be nice to get ANY job. ANYTHING. My parents won't help, it's only by the grace of friends that I haven't starved. I've been medically crippled and disabled all my life, it wasn't an event just a wasting illness that started when I was 13... there's no program and no institution to help someone get work, who slid into being disabled.
Everyone says "Oh affirmative action and discrimination laws will help you" but for that to take effect I need to be receiving some kind of help... and getting that instituted takes so many years!
Besides, if you need someone to work for you, you gonna take the kid with a gimp hand who can't stand for two hours with no degree, or a fresh jock in college with no negative history?
I wish I could even get a bad PT job, but there's just nothing for me...
