It is truly sad to see this happening. My heart goes out to the owner and employees that are losing their jobs. It is just a terrible economic climate right now. You have Johnson Controls on the ropes, Stiles Machinery close to bankruptcy and many others just one step ahead of their lenders.

I had a job years back where I showed up and the door was chained shut and no final check. Sounds like he did right with his employees and did the best he could if he had the cahones to tell them in person or even in writing.

What did you want GM to do, help dealerships that were not good enough to turn a profit? That is what hurt GM in the first place, complacency.

I have had Chevy trucks all my life, but doubt I will again anytime soon. One problem after another.

What a shame.
Though it does seem pretty cowardly for the boss to not mention it to his workers.

This is truly sad to say the least . They should of given their employee's some sort of notice though. I live in Wayland and my family has done business with Wayland Chevrolet for decades how sad maybe Bill will buy it back ???
GM should be ashamed of themselves. This economy sucks

How do you tell employees ahead of time? Would you keep your mouth shut, or even show up for work if you knew you would be out of a job in a few days? Sounds like they are getting some compensation and hopefully lunch on the boss today. As an owner you have to keep this quiet until you want the public to know.

The dealership has been there longer than the 15 years Mike has owned it. It was formerly Bill Herb Chevrolet. My dad worked there for many years in sales. First for Bill then for Mike until he retired. I am sure he would be saddened as well if he were still with us.

Sad to see another one go.
But what really impresses me is that WOOD will have a crew on site. FOR WHAT? Just to make the people that lost their jobs feel worse yet.
Come on WOOD, get a life.

This is not a surprise other than maybe for their
employees. GM announced earlier this year that it had intentions of closing 40% of its dealers nation wide.

This is a shame; I just purchased a new vehicle from Wayland Chevy which had a couple of dent in it. Wayland Chevy said that they were going to fix for me when the temperature got warmer. I hope that they will still do the honorable thing and fix the dents!

I bought a used car there once, so this story makes me sad. The car wasn't all that great, so I'm not too sad.

I live in Wayland and am saddened to hear about another local business closing the doors. I bought a truck from there recently and it's one of the best vehicles I have owned. Good luck to all the former Wayland Chevy employees.

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Scorpio

Self-worship is easy and obvious, today. The real prize is when you turn from the mirror to see that others think just as highly of you. Take in all this love and amazement, and store some away for lean times in the future. Someone may give you an unexpected compliment later in the day, but don't let them know that it caught you off guard. After all, you still have your reputation as an egomaniac to uphold!
