What a tragic story. My sympathy to the family and friends that are left to mourn. It sure seems that we lose a lof of young people to sensless accidents lately.

It's a shame that this kid must have been asleep in driver's ed when they were explaining how speed kills. Wake up kids. More of you are killed in cars than by guns!

We all know that speed can kill
Teenagers know that speed can kill
But dont you remember being a teenager? To them, life is limitless and 'nothing can happen to ME'. Its that sense of invicibility that many of us would love to go back to.
We were all teenagers once with hardly a care in the world. Im sure you pushed the limit a time or two. You were just lucky- your time wasnt up...

How sad- 16 years old. Just a tragedy...

His name was Nick Aitchison. My classmate. My Friend.

Some of you need to put yourself in the shoes of those who lost him and start to have a little more sympathy..and realize that yes, we all do make mistakes...Doesn't matter what kind of car you had/have. its a mistake, that everyone should learn from. &&&& he was in my drivers training class. wasn't asleep. jerk.

Nick, you will always be remembered.

Nice post Lindsey

Dont worry- Im sure that 8Ball knows deep down that he didnt always drive the speed limit, use his blinker, buckle his seat belt, etc.

No one is perfect- and with a car he is describing, I highly doubt there wasnt one instance that he didnt 'test the speedometer'.

Its the pot calling the kettle black...

My sympathies to you and those who knew this young man who's life was cut short.

I feel very sorry for his family. No parent should have to attend their child’s funeral. I have a daughter a little older than him. I also raised a son. I pounded into their heads that SPEED KILLS!!!!!!!! Do stupid things and you could die. And could you live with yourself if you killed someone else. Neither has ever gotten a ticket or been in an accident that was their fault. My younger brother killed himself in a high speed crash, because he was being STUPID! He left behind a wife and three small children.
Did I wear my belt as a teen, no? I didn’t need to then. I went into the ARMY at 17 and bought my Z28 after basic. Did I test the Speedo? YOU BET! Even broke it. But I never did it on the open road or with anyone else in the car. I was taught to respect other people. Something that most kids today have no concept of. It’s all about them. The fact that Lindsey feels the need to call names proves my point.
So kids, please keep this kid in mind the next time you feel like flying down a country road!

so did you sleep thru drivers ed, also, and not learn that speed kills?
You just said you sped, and it sounds like a lot,... but I guess you must have woken up during the part where they say speeding is ok everywhere but on the open road or with anyone else on the car.
Oh wait- they never taught that!
And speaking of respect- you sure are the authority on that, making fun of a dead kid... "that this kid must have been asleep in driver's ed when they were explaining how speed kills". Nice- now THAT just screams respect.

"Not on open road." Now what could that mean? Gee, how about a track. Now there is an idea! Pointing out that this kid didn't listen is not making fun of him. I could if that is what you really want. I never said that I "Sped". I tested the speedo, at, what was that place again. Oh Yeah, a track!

Nope- you have never, ever in you life ever crept over the speed limit... not once. Therefore, you can freely wag your finger over this kids death.

I beg to differ- you are making fun of him, and it is shameful.

There is a huge difference between "ever in you life ever crept over the speed limit" and hitting a tree so hard it was up-rooted! So here is a finger for you. I wonder what one it might be?

8ball, have some sympathy. a young life was just abruptly ended, and yes, he made a mistake. but don't you dare tell me that you've never made a mistake. we all have, and i don't care what you say, you're no exception. his family and his friends are grieving for this life that shouldn't have been ended yet, and you're not helping. imagine if this happened to your daughter.. i'm certain you wouldn't want people talking about your daughter like she was just another statistic.. so please, stop all this arguing and quit pretending that you're perfect.
