Police say they have questioned a group of south Georgia third-graders about a plot to kill their teacher, apparently because she had scolded one of them for standing on a chair.

Ahat is going on in this world? 3rd graders? Shame on the parents for not teaching them right from wrong. If they had been taught right from wrong they wouldn't have thought about doing it. Are they are on the beginnings of thugs who are going to grow up to be a "social issue".

THIS IS VERY SIMPLE. BRING THESE KIDS IN AND GIVE THEM A GOOD PADDLING (WOODEN PADDLE WITH HOLES IN IT) LIKE MY SHOP TEACHER USED TO ADMINISTER. MAKE IT HURT !! AND THEN MAKE THEM SIT IN CLASS WITH THAT SAME TEACHER FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR. IF THEY ACT UP AGAIN, GUESS WHAT? ANOTHER PADDLING !

3rd grade? Amazing. I agree with ALR that it's really the parents to blame for this. Evidently, these kids have been raised to think it's o.k. for them to do whatever they want and anyone who stands in their way deserves to be punished. Sad.

Nice reporting 11 alive. CNN mentions they don't know the extent of their plotted attack. It never mentioned they planned to kill the teacher.

Scary! Do parents now have to lock up the steak knives? Is there something in the water making our kids crazy? I do wish we had some answers. Knowing that punishment was coming helped many of us not to do stupid things, but now people cry abuse when a child is punished. When will the stupidity end and rationality begin?

They should be charged as an adult. 13 clearly is too old for the kids now adays. You plan an adult crime, you do adult time.

You have to give your kids some respect for them to respect you and others-They need to know they will be punished for breaking the rules and I mean a whipping not standing in a corner.. You have to keep up with them all the time- not stand over them but make them keep you aware of what they are doing and where they are going- you start this early enought it will come without problems - No smart mouth talking back-or they will get a slap in the face. You don't have to beat them. But you can't be doing what you are telling them not too ether...I can see the biggest problem is TV, movies and Videos- Take away the video games and the crazy stupid cartoons on TV - I see to many kids acting out that stuff and they are not being taught this is not acceptable behavor- why casue parents don't monitor their play - I guess you have to be something of a nag. I grew up with cowboys and indian- three stooges- etc. If we tried some of the stuff the three stooges did Mom would have whipped us as would her Father have done to her especially if you caused someone hurt. I think it's mostly about respect. more confidence and less pride---Too much pride and this I can do anything stuff is being taught to kids instead of the respectfull vertures. Too much confidence and pride easily makes a kid a cocky little smarta--. Kids aren't afraid if their parents find out this stuff a lot of them are under the assumption that the parents won't find out when they do this kind of thing.

AMEN. I believe this kind of behavior has creeped up on us since we have become so dang intent on being politically correct in everything. We should go back to the good ole days when you respected authority and things were done for a reason and sometimes that reason was just "BECAUSE". All this focus on "you must respect them even if they are are different" and similar type policitically correctness leads kids to believe they can do what they want with no consequences. BS. Give me that paddle.

I agree 100%. If these kids got a good spanking every now and then, they wouldn't be acting this way. Kids watch their parents in this me me me world and start emulating this behavior and it turns toxic.

WOW nobody has blamed G Bush yet for this yet! When i was in elementary school most teachers had a "board of education" hanging from the chaulk board if you acted up you went to the front of the class a got a good smack on the rear then made you stand in the corner. What do they do now ? take away your cell phone

what are you, some type od an idiot or what? just because a child does something wrong, doesn't mean that the parents didn't teach them right from wrong, i'm sure your dumb a** did something stupid when you were a child, was it your parents fault? and what about your kids, are they little angels, if they aren't , then maby you didn't teach them right from wrong.

They might have known right from wrong, but they have no concept of consequences. At that age I had a very hard time trying to understand that with every action there would be an equal and opposite reaction. If their parents had let them know that "this hurts me more than it does you," as mine did, and administered swift reprocussions this might not have been an issue. I'm pretty sure that this is not the first time these kids have done something wrong at school, and it must be hard for 9 third graders to keep something like this a secret. My question, assuming the previous statement is true, is why was it so hard for teachers and administrators there to see this coming? Not that it should in any way diminish the seriousness of the actions of the kids.
