I live in waycross and this is scary. All the kids should be expelled and put in jail. The laws need to change. The victims and innocent need to be protected not the criminals

Someone asked what the schools are going to do....When are the parents going to fess up and take ownership of brats and delinquents and fix their own problem. If I were one of the OTHER parents, I'd be sueing each of the parents of the 9 suspended for failure to raise their kids correctly.

The school system, and law enforcement have a great opportunity here. There is a reason why so many teenagers/young adults are out of control now. You must start teaching these kids while they are young. I don't think these kids should be locked up for the rest of their lives, but if you take a strong enough stand NOW then maybe...just maybe these kids won't be part of our problem in the future with drugs, carjackings, robbery etc.

Where were these kids parents while they were planning this. When my kids were in elementary school I knew where they were and what they were doing. Parents need to step up and be parents!! Don't lay down and spread'em if you aren't willing to stand up and raisin' them!!

When I heard this story, I was just shocked. Maybe it is video games or South Park or just the chaos of our times, but this is truly disturbing.

What probably happened is that you had 2 or 3 instigators who swayed the other kids. Either way it is a sad state of affairs for our schools.

Are you kidding me? You're blaming Bush??

How is Bush responsible for this?

Please elaborate on this for me...I'm on the edge of my seat....

Why should the school do anything about it. The parents should be held responsible for either not teaching their children or for ignoring anything their kids are doing. Remember: these are "children" not some stray animal you can just put in the back yard and ignore.

How does a third grader have the mentality to plan this. My friend has a son that age and I just don't see it.

Solarmoonflower, are you serious? They should put 8 and 9 year-olds in JAIL, really? Even if they were put in juvey they'd probably come out worse than when they went in. Imagine the other criminals taking these young minds and turning them truly bad. This is a problem that needs to be talked out. The parents and school need to put in the effort to teach the kids that what they were doing was wrong, and why (because it seems they have no concept of this). Of course there should be some kind of punishment, too, but not out-of-school suspension, not juvey, and certainly not jail. Perhaps community service or something productive would work.

I can see it... Bush doesn't care about education, so indirectly he's to blame.

I'm curious about one thing: What is it like at home for these kids? How do their parents handle them if this is how they react to legitimate discipline?

Videos games?? South Park??? How about NO DISCIPLINE IN THE HOME?
When will you people start to accept that PARENTS are responsible for disciplining their children, NOT A FREAKIN' VILLAGE!!
When I hear someone try to blame video games, stupid tv shows or stuff like that, I hear one word: desperate. These people are obvious desperately casting around looking for something to blame because their way ain't working.

The parents should be looked at very hard in this case! These are 8 and 9 year old children... I have 2 children the same age and I could not see them even talking about something like this!
No one in the news has elaborated on these parents.. If they are put into Juvi they will probably come out worse as the other comment states! They need a mentor some one to look up to and guid them in the right direction

The teacher made one of the girls get down off of the chair (or table?) that she was standing on. Oh my lord!! The absolute injustice in it... People, please... stop asking what the teacher did to prompt this. If you think young kids don't have the mental capacity to think up things like this you are fooling yourself. I am the daugher of a retired police officer from Miami. Trust me - people are freaks and you can't put anything past anyone at any age at anytime...
