Officials expected gusty winds Friday to help feed wildfires that have swept through more than 45 square miles of tinder-dry forest in southeast Georgia.

I'd like to say that I think all the firefighters are doing a really great job. I would just like to thank everyone who is helping fight the fires In waycross and fargo, where I live. We are all so greatful. I know everyone is very tired, But, you all will be so blessed in the end and I'm very sorry to all those who has lost there homes. May god be with you all.

I THINK THAT THIS FIRE COULD HAVE BEEN PUT OUT ON THE SECOND OR THIRD DAY .WHEN IT WAS A SMALL FIRE, ONLY FIVE OR SIX ACRES, THE KNEW WHICH WAY THE FIRE WAS HEADING AND THE WAY THE WIND WAS BLOWING.THEY COULD HAVE HAD TWENTY OR SO CHAIN SAWS AND MOVE FIVE ACRES AWAY AND CUT DOWN THE PATH OF THE FIRE AND BULLDOSE THE TREES AWAY FROM THE FIRE LINE A HALF A MILE OR SO. SOAK THE GROUND THAT THEY ARE CLEARING AND THE FIRE WOULD BE ON THE GROUND AND NOT TREETOP JUMPING.
